Title: Lop sided grille
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on August 18, 2014, 12:28:07 PM
Hi all

While watching the highlights of the England test, I noticed Ashwin had a lop sided grille setting.

On the left of his masuri, he had the grille set on the bottom row, but on the right hand side it was on the top row.

Anyone know why he'd do this (I can't beleive you wouldn't notice this), and would it compromise the safety if the lid?

Depends on the grill. I'd suspect that it would introduce a level of flex into one side and widen the gap to unsafe proportions.

^^Not sure if it's impressive or not that you noticed!

Can only assume that its so when facing up to the bowlers he thinks it gives him better vision with a wider gap on that side of the helmet but when pulling etc. the opposite side of the grill would come into place with the smaller gap?
