Wondering what people's thoughts are on whether its possible to make a 1 piece cane handle? what are the pros and cons? i hear that handles used to be made out of willow but were replaced by cane as they were considered to be too heavy, surely this would make the pick up better? everyone seems to be double and tripple gripping their bats anyway, not to make the handles more comfortable but as a way of counterbalancing? also would willow make the handle stiffer?

Willow would make the handle far stiffer and also very uncomfortable as it does not have the elasticity of Manau cane. The 'Rubber' stops it being 'too bendy'. If fact even a solid manau handle would be too stiff. It's about creating a balance between the required stiffness and comfort. Never underestimate the importance of the handle!

I've had bats with two springs and three springs and every time I have found that the bats with three springs perform better and feel better in hand.

Cheers, surely a 2 spring handle would perform better?, also laver and wood describe their willowcane handle as somehow having more flex, surely adding english willow to the handle would make it stiffer?

frosttravis, I think the point being made here is that stiffer is not a good thing when it comes to handles. Both for comfort and performance. Just like them being too springy/ soft isn't a good thing either
