Well Well Well,
After a couple of lengthy delays, I was just on my way out the door to go and do my weekly coaching before pre-season training and a DHL van arrives on my door
So in the box below is my "one off" bag which i designed and drew up the dimensions.
For those who need reminding the bag is 110*55*48 (all in cm)
More photos to come

Enough of the suspense..let's do an unboxing video review
-
Obviously disappointed then!
-
Not disappointed at all mate im stoked with it, just had to go and earn some doe! full review and pics will come later this evening after training and coaching
-
From what you've posted, this bag clearly doesn't exist, you've just had an empty box delivered!
-
Very expensive custom made cardboard box from what I can see
-
The box doesn't look like it can fit any kit in. No zips on the one entry point.
No carry handles.
No wheels or luggage handle.
Poor colour
Dissapointed in your new bag.
-
Hello Everyone,
Sorry i took my time copped a knock at training and been icing me knee for an hour and have not moved but now i am here, i see you all loved the cardboard box which did make me laugh.
SO without anymore waiting here is my bag,

The dimensions are exactly what i asked for (110/55/48), the colours are amazing and the stitching is first class.
I wasn't quite sure how it was all going to go with the size, it is massive the photos don't really do it justice.
There are some issues which i have found quite early with the bag however...its not perfect.
There are only 2 wheels on the back of the bag. It really needs 3 if not 4 as the back did wear on the little outing it got to training and coaching this evening in AUS.
It is with this that I have decided to put 2 extra wheels on myself. I ripped apart my old club bag (I have changed clubs) and saw how it easy it will be to put the extra wheels in.
The material still looks first class and the Digi Camo has come up very well.
Has plenty of space as can be seen. The picture with the gear all in has 3 pairs of mens pads, 3 bats, helmet, shoes, strettons, another shoe bag with bat care stuff and 3 pairs of gloves and it can take more.
I am also going to take the lining of my old bags and make some plastic walls to make this bag like a soft coffin, pliable enough to fit in my car boot (yes it does actually fit!)
SO this is my bag and my bag only, not one that can be mass produced as there is so much involved, the delays weren't great but religious festivals take priority in that part of the world and rightly so.
Thank you for reading. Still weighing up the possibility of a video, depends how my knee is

Why did you get custom bats logo printed and why is it taped up?
-
Did James mind putting the CBF logo on here as we all know how much he likes us?
-
Is this a repost? I swear I remember seeing this ages ago? And there being some sort of row about using CBF on the bag. ???

De je vu?
And, I don't like the bag at all sorry.
-
Wait? What? Someone kicked off cos it says cbf on it?
-
I thought this was a different bag , but seems not..
yes admins didn't like the fact that he had the site logo in the bag without permission from the owner.
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=31146.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=31146.0)
Confused now, is this the same bag you were talking about back in July ?
-
Well when it's a bad made by the one man who spends all day slagging off the forum I think the forum has every right to raise an eyebrow or two.
With regards to the bag itself it's not to my taste, bit too much going on! How much did you pay for it out of interest?
-
ive read a few threads just now. cant seem to see where it says lekka made it? where is everyone getting this info from?
as for the custom bats logo, cb dont make bags, ff isnt selling these bags, so i persoanlly cant see a problem.

i think someone suggested it maybe Lekka because of Lekka branding in previous thread.

it could well be made by cbf then, as it has custom bats branding?
presumption is the mother of all f%%% ups.

I just searched OP's posts and seems like most of his posts are regarding Lekka stuff

he does own a few lekkas, and has dealing with him, but too me going of the guy in the preview pics, plus the comment regarding religious holidays, my moneys on it being indian/pakistani made.
may well be a lekka contact, but very doubt it be lekka himself thats stitched it.

But it was one of his men who cut the fabric with an angle grinder!

Typically if you use a logo on an item like this it is polite to at least ask to use it.
The forum would rather promote its sponsors than banned members.
I don't think either of those things are unreasonable.
now if people want some CBF bags - hummm we could give it some thought (although they would need to be at least as good as the ones currently offered in the market and that feels like a load of work!! Lets face it the SS, Salix, GM, Newbery, Blank Bats, Affinity, Red Ink etc bags are all very good)

i personally agree with ff, there isnt a bag on the market i believe fills my exact criteria. plus ive seen many a suggestion for duffles with a chest strap, and non yet exist. cbf could indeed fill a hole in the bag market.
use the forum to spitball ideas, make a cad drawing, and if people like it, take deposits to make a prototype, and then once perfect, order in for the people interested.

Frankly, if you want to take this type of approach, either use Kickstarter or indiegogo. At least there is some level of protection/scrutiny in that route.
-
As for religious festivals taking priorities lol where do you think most if the softs come from.
Glad you like it but you do seem to be wanting to make few modifications.
Color scheme just not my cup of tea.
it does look spacious but is it easy to organise.
-
Thanks for your replies everyone, i would like to reply to them all but I'm not into writing a whole page epic and replying individually.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing we all can agree, i possibly should have asked forum owners for the use of the logo but in saying that, my method of thinking was that the bag was not being sold commercially and was for my own personal use while still promoting CB at the same time so i thought it would be ok.
The cost of the bag i have stated in other threads on this bag but all in was $250 USD including shipping and personalized logos which i think is reasonable especially with the size and DHL postage.
It is a very spacious bag obviously with the size. It isn't that hard to organise but you do need to have a correct way of packing it as if it is lop sided and weight to one side it can drag along one side but this is the same with any bag on the market.
This is the bag i spoke of in JUNE and JULY, The photos taken in those topics were from the factory, i only received the bag yesterday.
I am making some modifications which i think will prolong the life of the bag. It needs an extra wheel as it only has 2 and even after taking it to training last night you can see some scuffing so i plan to add an extra wheel or 2 which i think will stop the dragging. I also will be taking the plastic bases out of my other bags and attaching Velcro to them to create some walls to help the bag keep its shape
Hope that answers most of your questions about the bag
-
^ thanks for the details...great bag!

I'm sure B3 wouldn't mind having their logo put on this custom bag by someone without asking... Or would they?

B3 sell their own bags though, CB don't.

no idea, youd have to ask b3.
i was gonna have b3 put on my strettons, as to match my kit at the time, but went with another design. i wouldnt have ask them though. well because there my thigh pads and i wouldnt plan on selling them.

They don't need to make bags... They make other products under the CBF logo

I can see why they wouldn't be happy, but I do still see it as a forum with a shop tacked on rather than a business, maybe the owners see differently.

$250 and you still need to make modifications to it?!
Clearly you have deeper pockets than me haha!
-

Modifications aren't costing anything more as the walls i am making are just the hard casing in the base of my old bags, the velcro is already sown in the bag, just need to stick on velcro to the old base's. The wheel/s i am adding are also off my old bag and wont take me that long to fit.
$250 and a few alterations and i see no reason my bag wont last at least 5 years
-
Who made it btw? It seems like the bag is one big compartment, so apart from the custom printing.. isn't 250 dollars bit too much for something like this?

I sourced my custom bag through an agent
-
Ok mate, I am a bit intrigued because I have seen very similar bags being sold as just bags [not cricket specific], more like luggage bags in India.
What is the custom bit here apart from the logos?
Did you design color scheme or picked from a range of options.
What annoys me about really big bags is the bit where you have to overhaul the whole thing while looking for something. This is very I quite liked the Aero Tour but it was a bit too big, stiff and cumbersome.

Hi palmist, sorry for delay, mixture of pre season trial games, my old mans 50th birthday party as well as fathers day here in AUS.
This bag has been purpose built, the pockets on the bags were modeled on a bag from a well known cricket brand. The colour scheme was brought about by working with the agent and had a range of options but was in essence my idea.
This bag has some flaws as the manufacturer forgot the walls that would hold the sides up and give stability, They were meant to just be attached by velcro. The velcro is sewn in, just minus the walls, so i am making my own.
I am making them out of old plastic liners from previous cricket bags and attaching stick on velcro to them.
I have also added 2 extra wheels to the bag as it lacked a bit of stability and dragged a little but after putting them on this afternoon it has solved that problem.
Those pics are coming shortly
To answer your question about overhauling the bag to find what you need, I pack my bag meticulously so i know exactly where everything is. there is enough room in the bag to search without throwing items out of the bag and placing them back in the bag.
Hope that helps mate
-
Pics of the wheels being added, so simple and has now solved my dragging dilemma which you can see even after 1 use it was dragging

Top job there mate
-
Thanks mate, walls are my next project. Will make the bag last more than 5 season i reckon. only ever got 2 seasons out of a wheelie so anything over that is good
-
I still can't get over how you're happy to pay $250 for a bag that stills needs work doing to it?! Surely if the manufacturer didn't make it right in the first place you'd get a refund or a replacement?
-
I am happy mate as the modifications i have made will make it last a long time, the walls were a mistake on his behalf and simply forgot to put them in the box to pack. The Wheels was a design flaw as i assumed it would be a minimum 3 wheel bag due to its size and honestly i am happier it is a 4 now. $250USD including dhl cargo for a bag that is 110/55/48 is crazy cheap for a custom designed bag. Quote from some companies were in excess of $300 before shipping and were not using dhl

I think OP is enjoying this as a project. If modifying the bag brings him personal satisfaction then who are we to comment on price unless he decides to flog it off for that price ;-)
-
I'm still trying to get my head round why you'd pay for a custom made bag that doesn't meet your needs. ???
And surely if it was custom made you'd have asked/specified at least three wheels??
Am I missing something...

I assumed 3 wheels as the agent showed me a photo of some of the work the manufacturer had done and it had 3 wheels so probably lost in translation. I think the 4 makes it better any way.
and no palmist i will not be flogging this off. I believe it will last more than 5 seasons, not a matter of personal satisfaction as i would send it back to the manufacturer but with the delays i had with this bag in the first place and my season starting on saturday..it is easier to do it myself and then i know it is done right and to what i want, no grey area between languages
-

It was a joke mate. You seem to be doing a good job with the wheels and as long as you are happy.

That's fair enough, as long as you're happy that's all that matters after all!
-
I am relatively happy mate, i mean of course would have much preferred to have received it in the condition now. But in saying that it i at least know the quality of the components i am putting in so that makes me feel better. Also is keeping me busy as a project
-
To be honest id be pretty pee'd off if I had to spend time and money modifying my newly acquired custom made bag because it wasn't up to scratch.. It looks as though the (No Swearing Please) is almost worn through from dragging on the ground due to the design flaw.. Ok wheels in place.. One flaw fixed..... Still flawed with no support in the walls and by the looks no support on the edging...
Just my opinion going by what I can see and have read so far... Can't make a full judgement without seeing it in the flesh
-
Great that the bag meets your needs space wise, although a bag that size would be ideal with a few more pouches and pockets IMO.
Glad that the zips a rebust, as the zips are a weak point of some bags! Also hope the stiching stays strong, as that is another weakness in my experience - stiching is particularly relevant where there is a lot of (heavy) hit being carried! But time will tell and I'm sure you will be reviewing this over a long period of time.
Style wise, not keen at all! But colour, patterns, etc is very much each to their own tastes!
About the CBF logo - agree that it's no bad thing. But agree with others that you should have checked with the forum owner before using it. Especially as 'xtrax' logo, also on your bag is the logo of a banned sponsor who is not well respected on this forum. But hey ho! It's done now and it looks to have more than enough space to fit masses and masses of kit in! Hope it serves you well! :)

No real time spent modifying it mate, took me all of an hour and all the parts i had from previous bags. The photo makes it look very worn through when in essence must of it is sand as our ovals have been top dressed for the upcoming season but if i had left it for a month i think it would have worn through.
Walls will be in the same boat as i use all inserts and stick on velcro.
What do you mean by no support on the edging?
TO the HOSK
there are 8 pockets on the outside of the bag... none inside obviously as it was meant to have walls and dividers to make sections in the bag (thanks manufacturer!)
Stitching seems to be solid but again time will tell.
CBF logo i agree i should have cleared up with bosses but hindsight is wonderful thing we all can agree.
It can fit a crazy amount of kit in it. I did an experiment just to see what i could get in it (not what i wil carry to games) as a bit of a joke
8 bats, 4 sets of mens pads, 8 pairs of gloves, 2 helmets, 2 sets of shoes, set of strettons and a bat care shoe bag i carry, obviously lifting was an issue but still funny to see.
Hopefully serves me well, have certainly been a few comments on the size at training the past week.
-
it reminds me of the jet cricket payers kit bag

as for the custom bats logo, cb dont make bags, ff isnt selling these bags, so i persoanlly cant see a problem.
Because it gives the impression cbf has either endorsed it or has a commercial connection with it. Neither of which is to be encouraged tbh. I'm guessing you're not 'there yet' with regards to intellectual property rights etc?
It also looks desperate as hell from a former member who gets regularly and rightly coated on here for being a whopping rip off merchant. (And equally a racist a-hole if you screen his fb page!)
Conversely, tho, I think the idea of doing your own bag is awesome. Every bag on the open market has some sort of compromise for everyone, so it's cool you can build one to your spec. And I think a little bit of modding is even better - the manufacturer will never get it 100% right and minds may be changed between design and receipt about what you need.
-
You say the manufacturer never gets it right... surely that's the whole point of a custom product - if it's not right, send it back.
For example, If I ordered some samples that weren't made to the specifics I gave the manufacturer then I would expect new samples to replace them made to the correct specs instead (this has happened) - if someone orders a bat at 2.10 but receives a 2.13 is that okay? Sure they could get some weight taken off it and modify it to their needs but that loses the whole point of a custom product.
The worst bit for me about this bag is it will have cost Lekka no more than about $60 max
-
I believe bats are different to a bag mate, and really after the delays i wasn't overly keen on sending it back to the manufacturer after the run around. The modifications are things i have added in a bid to make the bag last longer, i cant see how that is such a bad thing. Is like someone using a natural finish bat with no oil or someone putting a scuff sheet on, one wants to just use the bat and the other wants to protect it more. I Just can believe people are annoyed at someone trying to prolong the life of gear. With the prices of kit nowadays you have to make it last as some of us cannot afford to buy a whole new kit every year if we dont look after it.

Totally different buddy, if you buy a bat from a custom maker you get what you ask for. And a scuff sheet and oil is basic bat car anyway, you buy a bat expecting/knowing you'll have to do this.
If you buy a bag from a custom maker you clearly don't get what you ask for. And I've never bought an off the shelf bag and felt the need to add bits, so you surely shouldn't have to do this to a custom one!
As for modifying it to make it last longer, that's fair enough, but if you've paid for a custom bag to your specs they really should've done it for you, I'd have been pretty pissed off if I'd ordered a customised bag and they hadn't made it how I asked.
-
I have never said its not what i asked for. It is to my specs, there was a language break down obviously on the wheels and the walls weren't put in the box which is purely a mistake by the person who packed the bag. Obviously it isn't ideal having to do it all but at least i know the quality of the parts i have put in.
-
By the fact you have to modify the bag it is evident you did not get what you asked for, or did you buy it thinking "I'll pay $250 for a bag, then add parts from old ones to it to make it last longer"?
-

Reading between the lines, I think the problem was more of a gap in the specs/understanding of the eventual product.
I'd assume the bespoke/single-run bag manufacturing industry isn't as big/mature as others so I don't think it's too fair to compare them.
-
IM happy with the bag, im the only one who has to be happy. Its my bag which i have got made to the size i want, the pockets i wanted, the colours i want and my name to match my foxes. Anything i do to it is to improve a belter of a bag.
My focus now is on to gloves for my brothers bday.

i've gotta say you've done an immense job of putting more wheels on!

i've gotta say you've done an immense job of putting more wheels on!
Thanks mate, not as hard as it looks, is only 2 screws on each wheel and 2 wheel housings
