Afternoon all. The majority shareholder in Mongoose (who bought it out of receivership) has kindly agreed to undertake a Q and A about Mongoose. Unfortunately it can't be live on here, but he is willing to take questions that are put forward, and we will interview him. The date has to be agreed, but it is likely to be towards the end of next week/beginning of the week after.
We have a few of our own, relating to his involvement in Mongoose and what he and the others who bought it saw in the brand, but we'd like to open it up to you to find out what questions you'd like to have answered about the brand, company, receivership, future, etc.
The floor is yours!

this is fantastic as i have always like the brand.
i will have a think and come back with some questions
-
Q1)when mongoose original came to the fore. the mmi3 was a well made high quality bat(i have one of the originals, bought a week after release).
due to much use, it is near the end of its life, and id like to replace it. yet the current mmi's in the shops that i have come across, are a distinct drop in quality and feel to my original.
to his knowledge, what difference, both in manufacturer, and manufacturing technique have changed for this percieved drop in quality to come about.
Q2)
mongoose are seen as an innovative brand, although short blade longer handled bats have been around a while(newbury uzi) mongoose are seen to me as the brand that bought this thinking well into the public eye.
as the hype around such bats has now dropped, do you have anything in the pipeline that is very innovative to the cricket industry to bring mongoose back into the headlines?

Q. Any new models planned?
Q. Is the website maintained?
Q. Any plans to sell in Aus/NZ?
-
Q: what are you planning to do with the brand?
-
You must be pleased that young goose players like Laurier Evans, Riki Wessels and David Willry are making great strides in one format or t'other. Will you be able to keep them if they make the next step up for any concerted amount of time before New Balance swoop?
-
Guys, you have until 9am Wednesday morning BST to submit your questions. I will be sitting down on Wednesday afternoon/evening to do the interview.
-
Where do you see the greatest potential for growth for a cricket brand like Mongoose?
Who would the archetypal Mongoose pro be? I bet he'll say Marcus Trescothick...
Do you insist on Mongoose pros using your bats or are they free to take labels and sticker up whatever they like?
-
Who is this majority shareholder ? Asking questions to a nameless person seems strange.
-
His name is Nick Lawson.
-
Thanks Tim.

New kit for 2015?
-
Will my email enquiry to your website ever be answered?
What is your favourite takeaway?
Can we expect an explosion of mongeese being released for the 2015 season?
How do you take your cups of tea?
With a lot more T20 bats now available, what will your USP be moving forward?
Is a Jaffa cake a cake or a biscuit?
-
Oh I forgot the important one!!
Do you own a dog, if so what breed??
-
Has he ever been involved in cricket before mongoose, if not why invest in such a weird little industry as cricket? ( that's meant in the nicest way possible)
-
If it's left out and goes hard it's a cake, if it goes soft it's a biscuit ..... Never had a Jaffa cake, are they nice?

I know they're cakes but it's a good judge of character how people answer! ;)
And personally I think they're great, when I finally manage to meet up with you I'll bring a pack mate :)
-
I'll give them a go, I'll get my wife to cook some curry goat. Your not squeamish about bones in your food are you?

Not in the slightest haha, not got round to trying goat yet so sounds like a good plan all round :)

Just a reminder, there are 24 hours remaining to submit your questions for this QA session. What do you want to know from the people who bought Mongoose from receivership?
-
Nick, I understand that you invested before receivership - and then bought it out after. What made you want a second bite at the cherry? What were the failings first time around?
-
Little reminder. Only a few hours left until I close the questions thread. Get those questions in now...
-
We don't see Mongoose being used in major T20 tournaments around the globe. One would think that Mongoose will be an ideal bat for this format.
Any plans to get more visibility in this segment ?
-
I'm extending this to mid-day UK time. Last chance everyone.

Do you plan to sponsor CBF??

If the majority shareholder doesn't make these decisions who does?? ???

They don't generally manage the day to day marketing and operational budgets and make decisions at that low a level! It's more likely to sit with the likes of the management team of the company.
-
Thanks everyone for your questions. The results should be published in the next couple of days...

Do they really have a large management team ? I doubt it for a small company. Nick is one of the owners so im sure he will be involved in the day to day running. If not why not ?
