Being a bit of a short legged terrier my knees don't locate in what looks to be the right area of standard sized pads (other that that they feel ok though - no unpleasant chaffing etc.).
Would small mens/youths pads be a better fit and do they offer the same protection - any other umpa-lumpas out there?

Absolutely. I'm about 5'9" and use small mens kookaburras. I've noticed that my mens SG Pads are a little smaller than my sm kookaburras. I'm not sure if that's enough evidence to suggest that products predominately made for the Indian market run smaller than those marketed to UK, OZ, etc. If not purchasing online, I'd say go and try them on - it's hard to gauge comfort, wrap etc. without it IMO.

We've got a fair few pairs of youth pads in both Elite and Premier in stock if you fancy trying a pair out....£25 inc P&P :D

Had a few PM's about the measurements of the Youth pads...
Size wise our adult pads measure 47cm from instep to the centre of the knee roll vs the youth at 39cm.
