Paul from IJC recently posted a very tempting offer on H4L gear. As a sweetener, he mentioned that there is a 16.67% VAT exemption for buyers outside the UK. I'm told that H4L are VAT registered, but I am wondering which other brands/companies are VAT registered as well. Is it commonplace? Are the other forum sponsors eg Aldred, Blank Bats, Red Ink, B3 and Bulldog registered too and if so, are there VAT exemptions buyers outside the UK can take advantage of?
-
Sorry not VAT registered as yet, but hopefully soon we may be.
-
I know for sure, B3 is VAT registered as I got that % off when I got my butterfly from them.
-
Just read that Red Ink isn't VAT registered, so I thought best to update this thread to keep record.

H4L are VAT registered? This is news to me. Last I heard they were only considering doing so, but hadn't gone through with it yet... ???

It's not buyers outside the UK, but buyers outside the EU. A customer from, say, France still has to pay VAT.

we are VAT registered, and offer 16.67% VAT exemption for buyers outside the EU
-
not fair :(
-
Why is it a 16.67% reduction rather than 20%?
-
VAT registration is a waste of time unless you deal largely with other VAT registered companies - for independent companies like H4L that sell the majority of their products direct to the public it would almost certainly end up in a loss of money (without a substantial price increase - maybe the November price rise is to incorporate this!).

You add 20% to the original price giving your total cost, if you took 20% off this you'd have less than you started with ie Product costs 100 + vat = 120. If you take 20% from 120 you are only left with 96.

It is a requirement when you hit around £80k of yearly income via the business though
-
I fully understand that - for most the small cricket brands I can't imagine they get anywhere near it, saying that H4L must be getting close to that mark now - the bats are everywhere!

Indeed we are mate...

Oh dear, sack your accountant

Can we update the first post with the status for all vendors ?

Oh dear, sack your accountant
Care to explain why??

Well, the overseas customers can at least enjoy their VAT savings on your kit by getting it through us... ;)

I stand corrected :)
-
Can anything be done about the shipping cost from UK? It is pretty high.

Well, our overseas shipping rates were reduced quite significantly a few weeks ago...
