Dear All,
I apologise for interrupting the Mongoose thread. I thought it would be helpful to open this topic and hope attendees might oblige us, the great unwashed, with photos of amazing kit over the next few days.
I am new and so send early regrets if this is in the wrong place but I thought it might clear the other thread up. Thanks to InsideInfo for answering my question. To all those going, enjoy the show!

Always great to see the top, secret photos early
-
Streaky and Russ will be there.. I will be on course bloody hell.....
-
Unless I'm not mistaken, this is the trade show where, a couple of years back, some nerds off here all got tickets and went round grilling the manufacturers. A few got a bit stressy and the release of the photos had to be carefully managed. Some (Woodstock) just got into awkward conversations with our intrepid nerds! I'm sure Saunders, Hosk and Tom were the culprits :)
Anyone in there today?
-
Our Instagram and Twitter feeds will be the best place for photos (purely because I can put them up quicker on there than I can on here)! :)
Yes, Bruce, the organisers have clamped down and made it strictly invitation only now, in the hope that only retailers attend. It will be interesting to see if this actually happens this year...
It's a 2 day show this year for the first time, and unlike previous years, Kookaburra and GM will be there too...

Was that when John would walk away and talk to someone else as soon as a question was asked about how he made the bats??
-
Personally I think the show misses out on (and deprives the brands of) a great opportunity to spread the word about the new ranges even more effectively.
In this day and age, everyone has a mobile phone and 4G data connectivity, so will publish to Facebook and Twitter. Why not have an official show photographer with a published schedule doing the round son the stands and publishing to twitter directly? Better quality photos, bit more control, keeps the kit badgers happy and stops the spy infiltration to some extent!
-
Very good idea that Tim.
I know the Steve N who runs something at Lords (the shop I think) so I'll suggest it to him.
-
They should do a day for trade and then a day open to the public like a lot of expos
-
Some manufactures might not be keen to go client facing in such a format but what a way to make some money for Lords and promote branding. Charge a small amount per ticket, host some Q&As (industry SMEs and maybe some players), bat making demo, have the shop/ indoor school open, etc. Hold it on a Saturday and you would get a good cross section - working day might be problematic for some.

So the IJC twitter feed has just posted this of the new Newbery Panche;
I feel very underwhelmed by the look of this bat - it looks very dull and lackluster, no real thought has gone into the design of the labels for this - something they've thrown together in 5 minutes. I think they should've kept the minimal look similar to the Kudos.
-
Some photos coming through on the IJC account:

New Kudos too

A bit blemishy too for an SPS I would have thought. Surely they could have found a sweet looking cleft for the show? Don't mind the graphics too much. Has a nice retro feel to it.
I wonder if there are any changes to the Kudos that warrarnts the "2" - hopefully a full length blade.
-
That Kudos2 looks great.
-
the Panache looks narrow to hte naked eye - the sticker doesn't have as much border as it does on the Kudos2, which I assume is still a short blade option?
-
Is the kudos2 any different from this years model or does it just have new stickers?

New Hunts Insignia poking from the back
-
is it my eyes or are those handles super skinny?
-
What shape do we think the Insignia will be...? Here's hoping!
-
Definitely going to be on the phone to Hunts next week about that Insignia!
-
It's just cricket just put some more photos of twitter from the trade show. Those salix decals look tasty!

I'm unsure on them to be honest, they seem to be venturing away from their 'classy' reputation with some awful colour choices of their logo.

Sweet grainage there, especially that pod.
-
I think the Pod and Slx look classy but I do agree with the awful colour choices on the lower end bats
-
I have a pod that was made by Salix last year as a birthday present. Wonder if they'd put the new pod stickers on it?
-
Hunts sticker are still horrific

I agree except for their retro range which I really like

How about Affinity, any pictures?

Wish they'd go back to the old style ones with the Stag on them, used to like those.
That said the Insignia and Caerulex might not be too bad from the glimpses on show.
-
Hunts must be the only manufacturer where the old stickers actually look better than the new range, and they were terrible back then.
I've had a couple of their bats thou and they are great.
If they have no ideas for stickers they should just play safe and go minimalistic.
Salix Pod don't like that, prefer the old stickers...would'nt use one if it was given to me :o

The Panache reminds me a little of the Thruxton...

I think that a lot of Hunts sales are direct to schools, so maybe the brash stickers are aimed at kids between 10 and 16?

can anyone at the show comment on any new bats released by M&H

can anyone at the show comment on any new bats released by M&H
I am hearing rumours that they are all heading towards the CK branding but with lots of different colours.
I have also heard that the new Salix (mainly the Hits Hard bat branding was a triumph) and Newbery stuff is really droolworthy.
You may need to speak to Advind (Aswani), Asad (Uzi), The Dr (B3) or Paul (IJC) who I hear were heading to Lord's today for more information...
Other than that - my sources tell me that there was loads of different colours across all the new ranges (rather than last year where everything was turquoise). There is no question of the 2020 influence on the kit.
Oh and Shrey weren't allowed into the building (but were in a local hotel) - with a changed lid (sorry Vic, it appears they have had to change..) so it has a thicker peak and a slightly different grille.
That is enough salacious gossip for now
-
Who made that panache .... Looks like it was made by me
Spine and toe wonky

Optical illusion made by the curved grains.
-
I'm far from it but I could make that bat with that dodgy off centre toe, people knock Indian bats but it would be better made than that thing.
I have to agree with others on here, that bat is shocking and the stickers poor from such a top company.
Like the kudos 2 stickers
-
The Doctor and Russ where there in attandance as themself b3 ds not have a stand
-
Any news on TON?
-
Just on the train on my way back from the show. Pretty much liked most of it. Very nice changes to the kookaburra and GM ranges. Wasn't hugely impressed with gray nicolls. Salix were as impressive as usual. Bypassed a few stands though!!
-
How much concaving did kookaburra have in new range?
-
How much concaving did kookaburra have in new range?
Certainly not as much as last year! Four quite distinctive shapes.

Looking forward to seeing the new kahuna

New flagship shoe from Asics, called the ODI with an RRP of £180.
-
The ODI looks better then it did in the catalogue when I saw it a few months back...
If the price wasn't so ludicrous I'd probably invest but £180 for a pair of spikes is just crazy!
-
Anyone know what the Salix pads and gloves look like for next year?
-
Did anybody get any info on the Ayrtek/Adipower range?
-
People were wondering why 20% of the cricket brands' business goes through SD... I fear it's because the cricket industry is charging ridiculous prices for gear. £180 for rrp, so about £160 in shps is stupid and short sighted. If punters don't accept these gratuitous year on year rises then it's no surprise excess stock is remaindered.
-
Those stickers on the Panache are hideous!
-
Any news on TON?
TON are adding the Legacy and Bounty bats to the range. The existing range remains however they will now have different profiles so no longer all the traditional Sareen shape.

Top end football boots now retail at £240, so £180 for a cricket shoe seems logical when the batsmen / fielder could be on his feet all day.
-
You can get a top top of the range running shoe for roughly 100ish notes. (http://b2b.brooksrunning.eu/gb_en_b2c/catalog/product/view/id/26623/s/ghost-7/category/4/ (http://b2b.brooksrunning.eu/gb_en_b2c/catalog/product/view/id/26623/s/ghost-7/category/4/) my shoe of choice)
How can they justify an extra 80 pounds?!

Just because a does something doesn't mean it's fine for b to do something. This just smells of retailers cashing in just because, rather than giving value for money
-
Wow, that $293 (USD)!!!!
I use Brooks trail runners (with rubber spikes ) which are reasonably priced and totally not meant for cricket. The shoes overall have done wonders for my ankles and knees. Cricketers are being robbed!!!!

Thank you asics. This has given legitimacy to my thoughts about buying a top pair of trainers and getting them spiked. That option now offers real value for money in comparison to these!

Agree with this, I'll be telling people to do the same. Rip off

Here is an example guys, they also make running shoes with spikes and they are also pretty cost effective.

For that kind of a price, shoes better be doing all the running too. :D

I'm sorry I just don't agree. Why should something be X amount if comparable with a much more popular sport that isn't drastically declining. Even though top end football boots are X, each brand has far more price points than cricket brands and feet on the ground. I may well be wrong, but it seems like profiteering at best.

Nike, Adidas and New Balance all have exclusively red colour schemes across their shoe ranges.
I haven't taken many photos as we were so busy all day. Great show.
-
It's be interesting to know if cricket kit sales are (overall) in decline etc.. Baring in mind the numbers playing the game are dropping.
-
Oh mama!
-
That's a reflex not an insignia
-
shame there aren't more pictures of the M and H bats. I really liked the new branding. (not that I was there if course)
-
i was in the m&h shop today talking to Rob i think. he was saying how the ck22 has been by far their best seller this season. i had also heard they were changing their styling but didnt seen any evidence of it.
i did see what an oversize cleft is like compared to a normal cleft. the ck22 was twice the size and 4 oz lighter just ridiculous
-
That hunts shape!! and the faux warning sticker on the back! Love it, looks like the warnings you get on jets!
This is the kind of different shape that I think is missing from a lot of the really big names ranges! They all seem very conservative, not a criticism because no doubt they will do like a train. But it is nice to see something a bit different!
-
Guys, as many of you know, we have posted quite a few photos on our Twitter and Instagram, with more to follow tomorrow...
M&H and Kookaburra didn't allow us to post photos, but if anyone has any queries about their respective new ranges, I will reveal all I can via PM/email.
Someone was asking about Affinity, but no news there as they weren't exhibiting! Ditto Willostix and H4L...
-

That is absolutely an Insignia. Oh mama. Long blade custom one of these please Jake. Forget Gray nics. How much?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Oh that Hunts Insignia is one serious piece of batting nostalgia. Superb!
Really hope it has small edges and zero concaving like the original.
Someone in our club still uses the original. Gorgeous shape.

I had a reflex mid '90s and it had a similar toe but the spine had quite a sharp peak. That made the duck bill toe a bit more pronounced
-
I had a reflex and an insignia and from memory the insignia toe wasn't that thin was it? I suppose I just pick up any bat and as long as it feels right in my hands I just walk out with it and don't really look at the shape
-
(http://i.imgur.com/mtDBgUGl.png)
This does bring back some wonderful memories. I used to absolutely love this shape as a youth.
The dip towards the toe is a bit more pronounced than I remember the insignia to be but I guess this shape has some modern touches added to the original.
Almost in between a reflex and an insignia?
-
My reflex had a really thin toe, must have only been 20-25mm! Can remember the vibrations hitting one off the toe!
-
I actually think I enjoyed the pub afterwards more than the show! Couldn't believe who was there: Alastair Cook, Matthew Hoggard, Stuart Broad, Jimmy Anderson and Ainsley Harriott...
-
I have an old Insignia here. I think there are some pics on here of it somewhere. Great bats and shape.
-

You could have a pair of spiked up a pair of Asics Gel Kayano 20s (arguably the best running shoe on the market) for the same price, which is much harder on the knees and ankles. Asics have made a serious statement here - though I do think they are using their position as market leader.
...Or just buy a pair of Advance 4 or 5s for half the price?
-
found them here

still for sale as well :)

Crikey, a £180 shoe from Asics - didn't even see that! Will have to take a look tomorrow...

Hoggard works there. All he did was eat when at the gear test - was world class at that too.
I would also argue the rest aren't working hard enough...
-
That insignia has everything. Great looking bat - are they going to be made in Huntingdon?

Available now :)

Good to see everyone today at the show and the exciting new ranges out there from everyone.
We will unveil what we have introduced thats new for the 2015 season over the next few days, the show carries over into tomorrow for the 1st time so im sure there will be plenty more to discuss as pictures are shared and viewed.

Seems an odd statement when this time last year they were saying it would be very limited edition and only available in small quantities, it's also very expensive! Unless the rest of the range bombed of course, I believe they lost some retail accounts this year, probably due to price hikes, maybe combined with the loss of an excellent sales rep to Spartan.
Did you see a cleft or a part made?
-
Just looking at the finished bats in the shop.
The ck22 in the pic is 2lb 8oz

I was really impressed with Kookaburra's new range...
They have a new bat called the Verve... Anyone who buys this will be a lucky man! :D
-
IJC, are there differences in shape with Kook this year? Kinda tired of the big edge, ultra concave
-
Paul, good morning I hope this finds you well?
I know I shouldn't but are Spartan present? It is a bit like a moth to the light but I am really drawn to the new yellow and blue MC LE pads.

They are indeed, and their new range is massive and includes new shoes, helmets, training aids and even cool boxes!

Yes, four bats (+ the Bubble), all with different shapes. None of them have much concaving and one, in particular, has modest edges...
-
Any news about Willostix? Did not see any comments about their products. Are they present or absent?
-
Willostix aren't at the show. I haven't spoken to either of the Andy's for a while. They were planning a re-vamp to their website but its all gone quiet on that front for now
-
Saw in their website that they are opening a new shop. So was expecting them to be present at the show too with some new products.

On the edge of my seat to see profiles of the new Kahuna
Kahuna profile is very similar to this year, maybe slightly less concaving.
The Verve is a full profile with big(ish) edges, Insticnt is a full profile with small edges and a high spine, looks a little like Toblerone from the toe up. The Cadejo is huge, big edges, full profile with 2 very shallow and narrow scoops.
-
Cadejo a kind of evolved Ridgeback then?
-
Cadejo a kind of evolved Ridgeback then?
Yes i suppose, but i would say the Cadejo is not as noticeable as the Ridgeback shape. The grooves really are thin and quite shallow.
-

I think that's what the marketing dept had in mind with the name, at least:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadejo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadejo)
-
actually, this line has just made me want to buy one:
"Some Guatemalan folklore also tells of a cadejo that guards drunks..."

Kahuna, Verve and Instict have round handles (Instict listed as a 'skinny' handle & Verve has a layer of cushioning under the grip)
Cadejo has an oval handle.
-
Grrrrr. Once again the heavy weight kookaburra is the one with the gimmicks. And doesn't even have a round handle!
I will be left Dissapointed again. Bring back the biggest kahuna!!!!
-
How is the Puma range?
-
How is the Puma range?
Puma have 2 ranges this year - EvoSpeed and EvoPower.
Power has pretty much the same profile as this years Platinum with the fuller shape and Speed is like the Chromium. In terms of looks, the stickers are a little simpler and if I'm not mistaken the Power bats and softs have a navy blue trim.
-
Anybody got any photos from the show that are not kookaburra, Gm and Gn? I keep looking on twitter and social networking but can only seem to find images on the Gn Omega range etc..
-

It also looks a bit like the H4L Tempo...

Posted quite a few more photos on our Twitter and Instagram today, so hopefully most of you have seen them. If not, I am happy to email some over to those who ask.
I am delighted to announce that we will be stocking Chase bats and equipment as of next month. We may even give some GM gear a go (but not the bats, of course!) :) The Original Duffle bag is a very impressive duffle, I have to say. I actually like their bats too (some nice shapes and pick-ups in there, and I prefer the decals to previous year's), but they remain steadfast about the hand-picking, which is a shame... :(

Great news about stocking chase, they are too quality bats from the ones I've used.
Can't say I'm a massive fan of the new branding (I prefer the old 175 style stickers) as it looks a bit too samey to me, but the quality is definitely there!
-
The Chase range hasn't changed much for 2015, but I have been a fan of the brand for a while, and from what I have seen, I agree about the quality.
Also, their FLC gloves are definitely up there as one of my favourite batting gloves at the moment! Ridiculously comfortable and look stunning too! :)

From what I saw, both models were concaved in aus
-
How is the Puma range?
I quite liked it... One of the bats wasn't really concaved and the quality for the price on the softs and shoes was very impressive. Their top end wicket keeping gloves, for example, come with a free pair of padded chamois inners, which I felt was a nice touch as they are already competitively priced on their own...
-
Any snaps of the County softs? Cheers!

I saw a sponsors.duffle yesterday. SEt to be released in Feb that was pretty sweet! Internal padded bat pockets. Boot pocket. Valuable pockets. and made with very hard wearing material.
I'm waiting for that now.

whos is that smiley?

Do we have a picture of this duffle please?

Is that a B3 duffle by any chance?
-
I'm not sure I'm allowed to give that info out. But I'm sure many will know or be able to figure out where it's from.

Another impressive duffle for 2015 is the one from Kookaburra. Spacious design, 2 internal bat sleeves and available in 3 colours. Full RRP of £60.
-
I'm all over the kooka one!
-
Anyone wanna point us in the direction of the kook 2015 range.
The odd sporadic pic ive seen still isn't revealing much.
-

Kookaburra images have been authorised for release yet unfortunately. I must agree with VKS that their new duffle is very nice. I actually saw one last season used by a sponsored player, i hoped it would make it to the full range and it has.

Im all for stylish boots and appreciate that there is a premium on comfort and flexibility. However, can asics really justify 180quid for a new pair of spikes?? My favourite asics were the gel 100 Notout. Class boot and think I picked up a new pair for 70-80quid which was then considered top of the range. Are these new boots really 2x or 3x better??
Maybe il just buy another pair of 100no as iv seen some on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141423447504?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141423447504?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649)

They are pretty stunning in the flesh, I have to say, and the technology that has gone in to making them is very impressive. Incredibly well thought out, but my question is if many cricketers will really care, especially given that there are top quality alternatives available (that do a similar job) for over £60 less. I think it's a bit gimmicky, to be honest. The Newbery Cenkos of cricket shoes, you could say! :) ASICS are making a statement with these shoes and it's good publicity for them, but I'm not convinced they'll sell, so although we have put in a fairly sizeable stock order with ASICS, we focussed on other shoes in the range instead! :)

£180 is an RRP, most retailers will sell below this price. It is still a lot of money of course, but the cost of extremely high end gear is going up across the board. Brands put all their effort, design and cutting edge tech into their top end showcase products, and the price reflects this. The main sellers are cheaper but also more standard in terms of design/materials used.
To echo the comments of Paul, it is a very impressive shoe, feels light, sturdy, and well made. The technology used all sounds great but ultimately this will be a product for the few, rather than the masses. It won't be available from huge numbers from Asics.
We have ordered some, and i might even end up with a pair myself.
