i have been thinking of getting a middling practice bat.
if i just chop the edges off an old bat i have will it work or is there a difference to this bats?

Red ink did a beauty for me in the weight that matched my match/nets bat for £40 can't see past that option tbh for that price!
-
Just the weight. Taking off that much off each side your going to end up with something very light.
I make middling bats to the weight of your match bat. May as well practice with the same weight as you bat with

In hindsight I didn't spread the weight out well enough, it picks up like a lump of lead!!
Other than that it's worked well as a training aid so I'd say it was worth doing.

Can't find a photo but I did exactly the same a little while ago, cut down an old bat and used lead to make up the weight. Mine isn't as neatly done (I just ran it through a bandsaw) but I did position the weight carefully, with the result that it works well! Found it to be of limited value batting against seamers, but a useful training aid for spin bowlers.

i have decided to order one from red ink as i want some other bits from John as well. might try and sell my spares bats at some point
