So, a little while back, Paul had a 20% off voucher for all purchases on the T20 Finals day, and I just couldn't resist! So I emailed Paul, asking him for pictures of the H4L NV, which is a bat I had wanted for a while now. I actually was the first to use the voucher, simply because I heard lots of folk were asking about this particular bat, and so I decided to wait until a little after midnight! (I was actually so keen, that the code hadn't even been activated yet!) :D
This particular one isn't the prettiest, but is pretty clean, with 7 grains. (Sorry about the face pic, didn't realise it wasn't very clear with the flash, will take a better one soon!) The bat itself is just a touch above 2.10, and has a very thin handle, which is my major criticism. The pick up is decent, reasonably balanced, but I think because of the thin handle, it isn't as good as it could be. The edges were slightly uneven, with one being around 37mm and the other being 35mm. Not an issue at all really, just shows that it was hand crafted! I really like the long hitting area and the shallow concaving. The bat seems to be very soft feeling, it makes a cracking sound, and responds extremely well both off the mallet and with a ball. Really looking forward to finishing the knocking process and getting it down to the nets!

I personally love the stickers and the profile, it actually reminds me of its GM counterpart, the Argon! Their handles are even similar!

Sorry about the lack of eloquent language and measurements in my reviews, just lacking the time to do a proper one at the moment! All in all, a top top bat, and regardless of the grading, it is an absolute stormer of a performer! Thanks again Paul! :)

I got a hellfire pro from Paul a couple of months ago. It was his bat of the month. The handle on that was very very thin as well. I used thin wooden coffee stirrers, strips of grip and thick medical tape to turn it into a thick oval

The handle is quite thin on my NV but I just put a chevron under the original snake grip and is fine now. They have a lovely oval shape though.
Love me NV one of my favourite bats at the moment and plan on really knocking her in over the winter and netting with her .

The first and third hellfire pros I got are both nice with a second grip. The middle one was really thin though! It's easily overlooked when you take into account how good the bats are though!

I absolutely love this stickers and I do agree with you on thin handle...I personally own one, need at least two grips or maybe three

Another quality bat Chad. We need one thread with all the new bats in there :)
Everyone says H4L gives a soft pressed feeling, but have not heard any issues of breakage. I guess Matt gets the right balance between soft and hard pressing.

My devil hellfire snapped after 4 weeks last weekend 😢

Chad..we need to see a picture of your Bat Cave with all those bats in glass cabinets like bat suits.
Great bat there and a great review as usual.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it's not massively difficult to sort out, but when it's this thin, it just becomes a bit of a bother to do so! I don't like double gripping much, so will have to just find a way past that! I can see that it might be done to get the weight down a little, and to allow for a whippier handle, which helps with the feel of the connection and also with flicks. :)

I don't think breakages really occur too much if you prepare them properly to be honest! (Or if they're made from faulty willow) Cracking bats, I really liked the H4Ls that passed through my hands. They were all pressed slightly differently, but I think this G2 is better than the 2 DVLs I had. (Hattori and Tempo)

That's a real shame, Adie. Was it a storm damaged Devil, pressing cracked one or a knotted one? Got any pictures to share? ;)

Afraid there's no such glass cabinets! I think only... One forum member has been in the bat room physically. He says it's his favourite room in the whole of Scotland, and I'm inclined to agree! ;)
Disagree with the comment on the review, they are quite scrappy I feel, and don't really do the bats justice! :-[

Lovely looking bat, can't wait to get my NV, have you had a Net with it yet?
