MB Malik signed shahid afridi and made bat on his nick name.

So why are you asking if anyone has used one? I thought you were considering buying one?
If you have been using one, then surely it would be a better option to do a proper bat review with lots of nice photos to forum members to look at?

Don't understand the trend amongst sub continental brands of having a new top line bat every other year.

Is this true of the cricket bat industry as a whole ?

They do, but with for instance CA, the brand degrades every year.

For instance, CA came out with CA 10,000 as thier top of the range bat. Then replaced if with CA 10,000 plus. Then CA 12,000, CA 12000 plus, CA 15000, then CA 15000 plus, CA 15000 LE, CA 15000 Players.

So the 10,000 that started off as a LE grade 1 willow bat is now a grade 3 willow bat.

Am I making any sense ?

I get you now!

Just had a look and the CA plus 10000 is listed as G1 willow and is only £125!
Tempted now haha ;)

A guy at my club used to have an Old CA 10000, surface cracks was an understatement, the face had virtually fallen off the thing, but my God did that bat fly! If you get one that performs half as well as his it's £125 well spent.

"la-la" is a term of respect meaning 'older brother' in Pashto - which links back to SA's origins. So it's not a nickname.

In that part of the world/ culture elders are not referred to by their first name as it's considered disrespectful.

Boom Boom was really bourne from Ravi Shastri's comment on TV. something along the lines of "Butt is but, but Afridi is Boom Boom".  :D

As for CA, I'm not sure they claim you're stepping up grades with 10000, 12000, 15000, etc. If fact I'm not sure what they're claiming but 10000 is still considered G1. And I've seen 10000's which look better than 15000.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but just received this in to knock in for a mate. It's concave to hell and weighs 2lb 12.4oz, so is either a really heavy cleft by their standards, or has a reasonable moisture content. Despite it being so concave, it responds ridiculously, packs a real punch. Never actually tried a Malik before, but would like to after having tapped this up! One thing I will say is that it's quite sore to knock in due to the sharp spine and edges.

I have no idea why CA and Malik love to have the edges so sharp as they take a good while to round, and cause problems. Even cosmetically, I don't find they appeal at all, so it just seems highly impractical! I absolutely detest the sticker design, but the good thing is they were easy to remove, and hardly left any residue. (Weighed around 0.8 ounces) This should knock in to be a cracking bat, but I can't help but feel it would have suited a slightly less concave profile with thinner edges!

Oh, and it picks up well! The lad picked this out of the Malik factory, apparently in a separate room from the main one. (At least from memory) He picked it based on pick up, and he normally uses a 2.7-2.9! Hopefully it will help him score some runs, I think changing from a 2.9 to 2.13 was the first step for me to becoming a slightly better batsman. (Of course, the numerous bat purchases I've made are the main factor!)

Hi,

I just received the LALA edition cricket bat and gave it to VKS to knocked in for 2 weeks. today I went out to play on the pitch the bat is good but when the ball hits on the toe or near area, it gives solid shock/jerk. Does anybody have any idea please ? would it the matter of the less knocking in or the bat is not original ? it looks english willow and  has 16 straight grains...

Thanks,

Toes are always dead areas on a bat so vibrations are almost an inevitability on all bats.
A bit more knocking in can never hurt though, I've never heard of a bat that was over knocked in.

Has anyone measured the length and width? I have experienced CA bats to be slightly narrow and shorter blade regardless of model i.e. 15000 plus or 12000 plus, even the player edition. Wonder is it same for MB bats.

Thank you for your reply.

any suggestion to avoid or reduce the shock/jerk as it hurts a lot and I am getting scared to hit the ball. if I put double grip, would this help ?

Cheers,

my MB lala edition has huge sweet spot. it has at least 40mm edges. I am not sure about the length. it weighting about 2.10 but the pick up is like 2.8....

For such an established member, I'm shocked that you don't realise that this bat simply does not exist... Fines must be dished out... :D

Keep up with videos btw, like watching you bat, and that lad with a bowling action which reminds me a little bit of Jimmy. :)

Blade on a Malik bat are of normal length. CA bats are 0.5 inch shorter than normal blade. I will post a comparison photo of CA 12000 and MB Malik Lala cricket bat soon ....

Here is the picture ... It might be a little difficult to figure out blade length from the picture. I measured the blade length from shoulder to toe of each bat. CA 12K is 21.2 inches long while the rest of them are 21.6 inches are long.

+1 Blade length is short on CA12K, but the handle length is comparable to other brands.
