Title: Your Bat Wish List
Post by: Silver Bullet on October 03, 2014, 11:20:06 PM
What bats would be on your to purchase list if you needed to add to your current lot and got a great deal. Price is not a factor as long as the bat is in your realm of affordability. Don't list a $800 bat if you could never afford one.

For me, id be tempted by deals on:
1. Affinity Carbine
2. BB Lam
3. Affinity Toro
4. B3 DB3

My wish list is worryingly long! These are bats I'd like to own or just have a hit with.
In no particular order:

A decent condition Scat
Laver & Wood
H4L Hattori
Lekka (I know he's not the most popular but I'd like to try one!)
Affinity of some description
Vitas Lion
B3 of some description
Salix
M&H
Red Ink custom
Wright Cricket custom
Hunts County Insignia
Top end CA
Non concaved TON
GM aura

Probably a load more, this was a list I didn't put a lot of thought into!  :-[

H4L, B3, Red Ink. Three brands I'm yet to use personally and have always wanted to since joining the forum. Just need to man up and buy some more gear!

1. Laver & Wood Signature.
2. Custom Salix Andrew J. Kember.
3. Top Tier Tim Keeley Bat.
4. Australian Gray Nicolls Legend.
5. B3 - 1271.
6. One more Screaming Cat.

Currently that's it, then I feel I will have a complete collection and best I could ever have in my life as each and every bat would be top notch.

If it's any consolation my selections are bats I'm unlikely to own anytime soon. There's every chance a b&s impi shape could find its way into my kitbag this season!

I've got a toro that weighs 2.13. The pick up is way better than this though!! I used it in a T20 game I. Which I scored one bounce fours from a top edge and a simple push over the bowler!! All of my club mates wanted it! The toro is the best T20 bat you can buy, northern monkey will back me up on this

2lb 12oz and grade 1 from IJC. It's a lovely looking bat that picks up very well (for its weight - I normally use 2lb 8-10oz). Great ping off a long middle. After winter nets it was going to be my match bat for this season. Then for some reason I used the AJK for almost every game  ???
Title: Re: Your Bat Wish List
Post by: Northern monkey on October 04, 2014, 05:45:08 PM
I've not weighed the Toro, I think it's 2.13ish
My usual bat weight is a very strict 2.9,,,but the pick up on the Toro is so good I've not noticed the difference, and could possibly go even heavier

I've leant it out a coupla times to friends, all of whom, have loved it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I don't think Marcus makes the Toro's less than 2"12 which always put me off looking into it any further. However, my carbine is 2"13 and I don't mind it as much as I thought I would due to the fantastic pick up and balance. Might have to check in with #teamaffinity when they put out some new Toro's for 2015.

Good to see so much interest in Affinity bats, which I feel is well deserved.

I am sorry but I couldn't resist a cheeky plug for this lovely Carbine that arrived in our store a couple of days ago.  It's 2.10.

Ticked off a bat I've been wanting for ages with my incoming Red Ink and pretty happy with my b3 bragg butterfly so I'm fairly happy with my bats at the moment...

However I still fancy at some point getting: an Aldred, a Salix, an M&H Harlequin, a B&S Clarke-type profile, and would love to try some kind of t20 Joker type bat, and a full profiled Indian bat. And a Bradbury Sterling shape, even though I know Bradburys love snapping. Actually the new GM Mogul also looks pretty desirable.

That's an interesting comment about the English made bats.  I have noticed this too, although it does depend a lot on the shape etc.  I suspect it is mainly down to a higher moisture content...

More mass, around 2:12/2:13. I am ok with fewer grains if bat will last longer. Some concaving to help with the pickup. High, high middle. Heart-wood on the inside edge would be great as I like to flick. Max edges 7inches from the toe. Spine peek 11 inches from the toe. Massive bow, want to clear them 30 yarders.  :D

2.6 2.7, have had some 2.5 in this season. We don't sell a lot over 2.9 2.10 with the exception being a few 3 pounders that a few of the pub players go for. Very little between 2.10 and 3lb.
