Hi all,
This is specifically aimed at the Batmakers here but please feel free to add anything if you have any ideas.
Our club president was talking to me at the game today about cricket bats (funny that). The difference is though is he is the coach of the Hunter Valley Special Olympics team who consist of players with varying disabilities, Down syndrome, autism etc etc. He mentioned that they have to modify their bats to suit as they are generally are smaller featured, smaller hands, less strength and so on.
My question is what style of bats do you guys thinks could help these guys batting?
P.S 2 of his players just made it through to the 2nd round selections for the Australian team
P.P.S Our club entered an All Abilities team this year so these guys can play cricket regularly each weekend. Albeit with modified rules when they play the other teams.
Sponsorship offers are more than welcome ;)

Very interesting post, than you.
It suggests that you would require custom bats as you mentioned that you are modifying existing off the shelf bats. Presumably any modifications are based on reducing weight and reducing grip size?
If you need custom mades for each player than it sounds expensive. Have you investigated some sort of sponsorship from a bat maker? I'm sure there would be many makers around willing to contribute to such a cause by modifying bats to requirement I know I would. I get the impression your not in the UK?

Thanks for the reply.... Yes weight reductions, grip size and also overall length for some...
Also I believe that they share some equipment
Australia here

I think any modifications to the bat would be straight forward enough, it's just finding those to do it. Maybe you need a list of bat makers/ shapers in Australia and contact them all.

I believe that probably is the best course of action but just thought I'd ask the question here due to the vast knowledge and experience of all Batmakers on here.. Not to mention trusting their views
