Bump!!

Starting this Sunday! 12noon every week our game.

Looks like they are a couple of quality sides, still looking for a couple of squad members!

I can't play but how much does your stuff cost? I ask as the chelt one costs a fortune for what it is and is losing teams and players. Again, participation is dropping quite quickly

I dislike indoor as it's totally different to outdoor and just promotes gifting my wicket away which I hate. However, if you bowl 3 overs and bat (for more than a few balls that is!) top 3 then yes, £5 is worth it.. If however you bat lower, bowl less and then have to run yourself out going for it, it becomes very expensive. At least football you are totally in control of how much or little you 'play'. even if you don't touch the ball you run around loads so feel like you are taking part.. not much actual moving indoors.

It's a shame, it'd be nice if they could do away with paying scorers and umpires and reduce the cost and that would hopefully make it more popular for many more people. It's not real cricket so no need for umpires/scorers really.

It depends on the form of the game you play. The Action Cricket version guarantees that all 8 players get to bat and that all 8 also get to bowl, so there is no chance of anyone not being involved. It's fast, furious and fun.

I hate indoor cricket as it's totally mickey mouse (and a waste of £5 and an hour in my opinion).
Without umpires or scorers there's no game though, maybe 1 umpire (square leg only) with a member of the batting side doing the scorebook would be better?

And I say square leg only as that's the business end for run outs and stumpings, everything down leg is a wide, I've never seen an LBW indoors and you can argue with being bowled.  ;)

The 6 fielders cramped on an undersized sports court while batsmen hit it as hard as they can at you is sh*te!

A lot of saturday and sunday games in proper cricket don't have 'real' umpires, so why bother with indoor which is as you say, mickey mouse anyway. Just let players do it, easy enough. One umpire at square leg is a decent idea though. of the chelt umpires do love a LBW, usually at least one a game even when it's swinging a mile

The difference is that on a Saturday there's 11 players and it's not played at breakneck speed.
Trying to get a player to do it is a mission on a Saturday most weeks, so trying to get someone to do it when they need to pad up first wicket down would be a nightmare.

Funny, with the lightweight ball and shin pads, I've found it to be perfectly acceptable, but then, if you have trouble moving out of the way of a ball hit at your head, you might not enjoy it...

I don't have any issue with getting out the way, in fact I can jump out the way before it's even been hit!  ;)
6 men in a cramped space trying to play a variant of  a sport played on a huge field normally, I just think it's just a stupid concept of a game!

And now you mention the lightweight balls, they die in the air and don't behave like a normal cricket ball, not that I'm going to list what's awful about these stupid indoor games...

To be honest my feeling is that it reminds me of proper grass roots.

When you a kid and they are only 5 or 6 of you so you make your own formats of the brilliant game up, in unused car parks, tennis courts etc!

Its a changing game and a changing world.... maybe not for the better! But its the way things are.

PS Still 1 short!!

Played yesterday!

Every player in our side loved it, played in a full hall not in a net!

No its not the real game but for keeping your eye in, fitness and morale throughout winter it works.

Still need a squad member or two for short weeks! Simmy, Ryan, Liam..... would anyone turn out if required??
