Any opinions on the square toe ala torro. Does it work or is it mostly a gimmick ?
-
A square toe looks like they couldn't ge bothered finishing it to me.
-
For me it's wasted willow. Although a square toe isn't adding that much weight, I'd rather have it where it's of use. I also agree it looks a little like it's not been finished.
-
I prefer them now, after a season using an Affinity Toro
To me it just opens up an area of the bat that was wasted before
Lift full bungers for six or cut wides for four
If I had a more traditional bat, I would specify the squarer toe, with a bit more meat there.
It wouldn't affect pick up that much
I tend to bat out of my crease on low bounce wickets
-
I don't like them at all, the bat just doesn't sit right on the floor.

Really?
To me they sit better
Each to their own and all that

How good is this bat if you can use the corner of the toe to hit a six?? :o

It's a take the p&ss bat
Fours of the toe

Yuk

Its a one of those things that people who haven't used one won't believe, but you really can hit 4s off the toe! I like the square toe when it sits against my foot, think its really comfortable.

I keep hearing that... Yet find it so hard to believe...

Just dug it out the garage for a measure
Mine has a 35mm toe, which is the edge height up about three quarters of the bat
Spines 60mm with about 4mm of concaving,
Blades 35mm shorter
I did round off the toe corners slightly, for bat grounding

Thank You, I have seen all the threads.
They're all used ones. Wanted to see a slightly used one. No worries.

I used one for some matches this season and it is true. Mine is a new CA SM-18 and I am just amazed by its performance.
I have one more bat in the pipeline for next season and I am thinking about changing the toe to a square toe.

I think you'll struggle to find a second hand toro, might be easier to get a square toe'd Spartan or get a Custom made

Wow... Thank You... This is fantastic.

A square toe for me is much of a muchness. It is great if you can have one in your weight but if it would make it too heavy then it is not worth it!
I do think though that an angled toe is great. It certainly taps a bit nicer and just feels better. No doubt has no affect on performance but placebo an all that!

Can't decide whether to leave it as is, or get Affinity to refurb it?

Has anyone tried the new Camel Toe?
