Wasn't sure where to put this, but thought here was a good place.
After having a bit of a prolonged absence from buying gear and the forum (so I didn't tempt myself) after a couple of years of splurging and then selling lots of items at a loss, I couldn't hold off anymore and recently came back. I kept having thoughts like 'I shouldn't of sold this one, or that one' and that was making me annoyed at myself. Just decided to have a look on gumtree and see what was about and and I came across an add for a 'DB1 cricket bat' (will let you know price later). When I saw this, my eyes lit up and I had to make it mine, but I kept saying to myself 'do you really need it'. After consulting my partner, well annoying her by asking if she thinks I should get it more than she probably cared for, I decided to make the plunge. Paid for it last Monday and I got it today. When it was sent, the seller said it weighed 1.2kg, so I assumed it would be 2lb10oz ish, which is heavier than I usally go for but it looked pretty good so I went ahead.
Took it out of probably 6 layers of padding (Kudos to the bloke who sent it) and was like being a child again playing pass the parcel. The bat is just amazing. Picks up like a dream and just feels perfect for me. Gave it a pit of a tap up at home and it feels like a beauty too. I honestly could not be happier and feel like I've made a bit of ground on the ones that got away. It was listed as a DB1 cricket bat, but it doesn't look like the DB1 shape to me - Far less concaving on it than I would have thought. Maybe someone can help to tell me if it is a DB1 or maybe something else? It has 30 mm edges (20mm shoulder and 22mm toe) and a 57mm spine and it weighs in at 2lb8.5oz's on my scales
Now the price - The price was the main reason I hesitated. How could a bat like that be so cheap, surely there must be something wrong with it. The seller called me and said there was hardly a mark on it. I believed him, but was obviously skeptical until I had it in my hands - skepticism definitley was not warranted as it is basically a new bat, with the only sign of wear being some very slight marks on the toe and a bit of dirt on the scuff sheet. This is pretty much a brand new bat and it only cost me $170 AUD or £93 delivered, which I think is an absolute steal for a 2 Stripe Bespoke bat.
B3 really do make quality sticks. I'll definitely be looking to get more in future.

Saw this one the handle - I assume that this is just the number of bat it is??

Good to be back :D

Proper bat! ;)
-
A bargin, but it doesn't look the same shape as my DB1, mines has a fair bit of concaving.
-
Looks a beaut mate! Absolute steal!!
-
Interesting profile that, with a very evenly distributed "middle". The number written on the handle should be the reference number for the profile/CAD file if I'm not mistaken.
-
Db1 would have the word series and then db1 sticker next to it.
As this says bespoke. It means it's not a db1.
Cracking stick non the less. Hope it serves you well.

Langer17, good to have you back
Really like this shape, there's wood all up and down, and even the edges don't taper down much, kind of like Graeme Smith's old shape
-
Reminds me of my GM Epic

Lovely looking bat and an absolute bargain!
-
It is not a db1 I will ask streaky what shape was designed through the number we catalogue every bat.
As for the other shape it looks like that would have been designed by our man too
-
The bespoke sticker definitely gives it away as not being a DB1. Looks a fair bit like those epics. Can't wait to give it a whirl
-
What a bargain. I don't know how I missed this one on gumtree, usually check every day.
-
I'm bloody wrapped, makes up for all the awesome bats I've gotten from here and then sold and then regretted selling haha.
Had to go through almost every page to find it
-
Lucky you! that's a really good bat for that price...
-
Bloody ripper bat mate for a great price
