Hi All
As some of you would have see, there was a broken bat in the for sale section not so long ago.
A couple of people I showed said it was dead, but I bought it anyway and gave it a go!
No pictures of the actual process, but I used glue, cardboard and a G clamp.
The condition of the bat when I received it:

Anyway, a bit of a clean up, some gluing, sanding and taping the hanle later the bat looked like this.
(This is about half an hour ago before I got round to oiling it!)

So does it work as a cricket bat now then?

Taps up well mate, seems perfectly fit for purpose as a cricket bat

I fear you wont know until its actually used in anger, the glue will only hold to a certain extent and the real test will be when the vibrations and force are put through it.

If it lasts, it lasts.
If it doesn't, it's not the end of the world.
At the end of the day I bought a broken bat that wasn't useable.
I've given fixing it a go with the idea to use it in the indoor nets. If it breaks Digging out a yorker then it was already broken, no real loss. If the repair doesn't hold I'll have to use a different bat, either way it's not the end of the world to me as it didn't cost me much and only took a small amount of time to do a repair (of sorts) on it.

I have tried a similar repair with my Newbery bat last season as it cracked similar to yours from the toe up until the middle but the repair didn't last very long even though it tapped well after the repair :(. Hope it goes well for you.

Update!
Put some dowells in the edge because it seemed like a good idea at the time, and have added a (rather horrible) fibreglass scuff sheet. Just need to test her out in a net now.

Yes have to agree most bats with damage like that are repairable but they don't normally last long.

If it lasts or not I honestly couldn't care, I got more fun and enjoyment repairing it than I'm likely to get batting with it haha!
