I am just wondering if anyone has a rough idea?
Or Perhaps we can start a list here and keep adding as users can think of bat making brands in UK?
Gosh!! I know it will be a crime to miss quite a few but here are a few ones I can think of on top of my head.
GM
Newbery
H4L
Redback
M&H
Black cat
Warsop
GN
Vantage
Shark
B3
Charlie French

Pretty sure Vantage do not make their own bats anymore... A brand being sold on their website may give you a clue?
If that's what you meant by 'bat makers', or do you mean brands? As there are a lot more than that..
-
Shark are made by B3
-
May be check the list of batmakers we have on the forum. A lot of them are missing in your list

Hawk
Red ink

These off the top of my head are some (iv no doubt missed others) that either have a pod shaver or do large amounts of shaping them selves.

Is Warrior still about??
-
Hunts?
-
Also missing Nixon. And Newbery aren't a batmaker per se. Then there's Heritage Cricket, Affinity, Redback, Fat Bats, Bulldog (who do make their own), Kippax to name a few and of course questions over Woodstock. The OP hasn't looked at the front page of the Forum!
-
I had a look at this some months ago and it's quite a long list. Based on my own research I found
about 18-20 actual bat makers including about 4-5 who actually make their own handles
and about another 30 bat shapers who get their pre-pressed, pre-handled blades from the some of the 18-20 above or Asia.
-
Hiw many of them start to finish Uk is a better question I think half the brands people mention
-

Excuse my ignorance Tim but are you saying that Newbery don't make bats from scratch?; Their website wording / video etc certainly alludes to them crafting bats from the natural cleft; I would be very disappointed if that wasn't the case. Please PM me if you think this should be discussed in the public domain.
Thanks and apologies if this has been talked through previously.

Ian - this is splitting hairs a little, but technically Newbery outsource the making of the bats to the Keeley brothers business.
-

-
just kidding folks! :)

Do they not mate? I thought they were making the Slazenger bats in UK as well

Nope. Not since 2013.
TK has been pressing and shaping the V12 and V6 since 2014 though.
-
I think nick nixon is still making bats up in malton.
-
Stac are still going on a very small scale too, I believe they shape pre-pressed clefts.

Thanks for clarifying Buzz, much appreciated.
-
Missed out Kippax, Crown Sports, Reaper Cricket, Slam Cricket and Sovereign Cricket
-
Hawk make bats from start to finish inc handles. David Banks is still at Stourbridge cc and when I asked my teammate during the summer who is a former Fearnley sponsored player who still goes there for his bats he told me they make some Slazenger bats.

Choice willow
-
It is heartwarming that some of the newer ones have proved to be both popular and good.
-
TK has been pressing and shaping the V12 and V6 since 2014 though.
I'm glad I finally got that information. ;)

Hunts?
I heard a rumour (only a rumour) that hunts are importing part made bats from a well know guy overseas as they cant keep up with demand. When I say rumour, it came straight from his mouth.... not sure if theres any truth in it mind
-
Not all Hunts bats have been made in Huntingdon for quite a while.
-
You can defiantly add Norfolk Cricket Bats to the list after the 3 hours I have just spent with David.
-
What happened to the lad who started Vantage? Is he making for anyone?
-
He makes bats for Kookaburra in Australia, I think
-
IS that Dan N? He started something up in Australia
-
He makes bats for Kookaburra in Australia, I think
A nice gig!
So not all Kookaburras are made in India?
-
Apparently not anymore.

They ought to get Paul Bradbury on board? He is rumoured to make bats for most/ some of the Aussie Test players, and his own brand doesn't seem to be going anywhere...
