Nice one mate.

What do we think/want the team will look like??
My guess is:

Cook*
Hales/Trott
Ballance
Bell
Root
Moeen
Buttler+
Stokes
Plunkett
Broad
Anderson

You can't beat a day at a test match, especially the ashes. Get there early to take in the build up if you can.

Waiting for the Lords ballot to open to try and get tickets for a group of 7-8 of us, wish they would hurry up.

they dont have much test cricket before the ashes so it will be fairly similar to what finished this summer no convinced by stokes in the test side but not sure who else they would pick rather him then woakes though

The only way that Hales will get in the side is an unbelievable winter of ODI cricket with tons (literally) of runs under his belt where there's no other choice than slot him in the side. Otherwise, I'd expect an already capped player or Adam Lyth if he carries on into the start of the new year.

I think the bigger question is what will the Australian side be like? Will Rogers make it until then, the India series could be it. I fully expect the Australians to run India all over the park on their own turf personally.

Can't believe some of you would put Hales in the test team ahead of Lyth!!!

Seems as if with a bit of luck I will be in the Long Room for the Lords test... :)

I think that predictions for the team at this point are pretty premature - there is a lot of cricket to be played between now and then - I mean there is still time for  KP comeback ;)

I've got 4 tickets for the 4th day at Trent bridge. Praying the match lasts that long. Especially at the price per ticket, £85!

Maybe it's because us English are more confident that we can win back The Ashes than win the World Cup! Have you seen England play ODI cricket lately??

Haha Paul, oh you of little faith...nobody thought India would in 80's or Pakistan in 92 or SriLanka in 96...be pessimistically optimist and you never know ;)...i Think if English batting clicks they have a great chance as bowling unit and fielding is pretty good..good batting can overcome poor leadership

The Ashes tour was like the 90s revisited!!

there is still enough for a new captain and coach before the ashes especially as the world cup is down under

The Ashes tour was like the 90s revisited!!
To be fair there were some pretty tasty bowling attacks around then, Windies 4 quicks led by Ambrose, Pakistan with wasim and waqar, Australia with mcdermot and of course big merv, SA with Donald and co etc etc. Those tours were pretty tough, the only real quicks now are the SA attack and Johnson. I imagine if Atherton, Stewart, butcher, ramps, hick etc were playing now their averages would be higher.

Going to the Oval, day 3 Saturday.

Last time I had Ashes tickets was Day 4 and it was rained off. The following day was the memorable evening when England were close to winning and the umpires called light!

Hoping this year will be my first ever Ashes Test match!

Fingers crossed

I was there, best day of test cricket I've been to since '05 - had tickets for the last day of Edgbaston, incredible scenes.

Got a ticket to Oval day 5, England need 6 to win the ashes off the last ball, smashed by Joe Root. I catch it and scamper out sharpish to watch the celebrations with the ball that won the ashes in my pocket.

Later negotiate with Root to give him the ball he deserves in return for 2 bats a season for the next 10 season
