I've noticed in the Pakistan tour and now with the South African games at home that a few of the players helmets are debranded or have tape covering the logos. I'm wondering what the purpose of this is.
I'm pretty sure most of them are Albion(who I thought had the contract with cricket Australia) but the only branded ones seem to be Masuri so don't know?
-
I think Masuri now have the contract bud, could be why.
-
What happens if a player has a personal contract with another supplier, does that mean they cannot wear it?

Would explain it, always associate Albion as the Australian cricket lid. Wonder why CA changed.

They'd have to cover the logo as is happening I guess.
I think masuri are the "official supplier" but they players can wear what they like.
-
Shane Watson wears a GM Pro select with stickers off the grill and covered logo. I think Masuri are the helmet of choice for most test playing nations. They seem to be fairly out there. Maybe if Albion came up with a bit more innovation and not just traditional styles they might fair better.
-
Rogers, Johnson, Harris and Faulkner all wear de-branded Albion helmets. Bailey wears a de-branded Gray Nichols etc etc. Personal preference I believe. No Shrey helmets in the Aussie team though!
-
It always seems odd to me that the sponsor can dictate everything, what shoes, socks, pants you wear but helmet is a free choice just cover the logo up. I know it is to do with the countries contract ect it just seems odd the sponsors do not kick back a bit more.
-
I guess socks are socks after all - every player has a personal preference when it comes to a helmet though, if the player isn't happy with their lid they could potentially under-perform and then the sponsor won't get their moneys worth

Anyone know if Albion are producing anything new for the 2015 UK season?
I like the look of an Albion Pro Elite, but I don't know if they meet the new standards - so I might hold off if they've new designs in the pipeline.

Buzz mentioned something a while back about Albion are in development mode but no updates as of yet

Is that a shrey grill? Ear pads looks ghastly

Here are a couple pics of me wearing mine for the first time on Sunday...ear pads look excellent to me?
I'm sure you will get over it.

Give me an albion or ayrtek anyday. Wearing a helmet that isn't safe doesn't appeal to me mate.

I wouldn't be holding my breath on Albion coming up with a safety compliant helmet any time soon if I were you!
Maybe you should ask Broady how he feels after wearing Ayrtek!
I'm loving it that Shrey 's barnstorming success is killing you.
-
Does anyone other than Vic actually give a toss about Shrey's success??
The ones in the old Masuri fesign I like, the fixed grille ones available over here not so much!
What helmet do I currently year - an old Masuri
When that needs replacing would I buy a shrey - if I can get one in the same style yes
As for the pictures Vic - the helmet looks nice, but I was more interested in the SS in your hands...
-
Killing me? HAHA! You make me laugh. I couldn't give a toss if everyone on earth wore a Shrey helmet or whatever they're called. I'd still be happy in my 3 different coloured albions depending on what team I was playing for. As long as I'm taking wickets I couldn't care what gear people used!

Hows this any different to what most international players do with bats? With the exception to the GM guys (who GM stipulate in their contracts they must use GM bats), a whole stack load of international players bats aren't actually made by the company who's stickers they have on them.
If a particular company is awarded the 'Official Sponsorship', I think its more than reasonable for them to require competitors logos/branding to be covered.

If you beleive that from GM you'll beleive anything...
