that looks like a decade old SS branding....never seen this model.....
i think like other brands even SS is going into retro thing....

>>> SS is going into retro thing
or perhaps inspired (like GM) onto more brand visibility
-
It does look very GM haha

Is that a counterbalanced weight at the top of the handle?
-
Yeh I thought that as well. Correct me if I am wrong but I think they use medical tape under the grip then just roll it back over.

They probably put something to actually add weight under the medical tape too bud! ;)
-
Yep. Lead tape usually.
I've never used a counterbalance weight before, but I'd be interested to see how effective they are.
-
Looks like a Laver with the C-10 handle... Their standard herringbone grip too...

I use an old grip cut up into rings, pop 3 or 4 of them on the top of the handle, you'd be surprised the difference it makes! You don't need anything too heavy to be honest, as it's right at the end of the handle, the counterbalancing effect is a lot bigger then you'd imagine.

I used lead tape but never found it very good. I was all over the shop with it.
I have found a cut grip or two makes it feel much better, but I guess it is whatever you get used to.

To me it seems a bit mad, "my bat feels too heavy, so I'll add some lead to it to increase the weight"....

It's not weight, it's balance.
When pick up isn't very good, add stuff to make it better.
I don't think it makes much difference and you would get used to anything with time.
-
He is not adding any weight. He cuts his handles short, and then replaces the little bit of lost weight, with the tape, to ensure the balance stays the same despite the shorter handle.

Anyone know what the bat Sangakarra is using is called and where I can get one? (Or even just a genuine set of the stickers would do!)
-
Yeah the new stickers are nice. Similar to the GM Zona colour scheme.
-
What he's used in today's game - from New Zealand?
-
White background, black SS and red underneath.
Very GM Zona style, looked pornographic!
-
From a look on eBay I think it may be the new special reserve stickers but I'm not certain
Hope they do sell them soon

Hi All,
Although posting for the first time here, but been tracking and reading all the post from last 4 years.
This series is going to be called 'Master' and very soon you will see these bats hitting the shelves all over the world.
I managed to get his bat from his pack for world cup.

Thought he might have been down to laver but the bat had a Newbery scuff sheet. Didn't a forum member have a rejected newbery that was sangakkara's
