Title: India vs Sri Lanka
Post by: Master Blaster on November 16, 2009, 09:59:59 PM

At one point India were 4/32 within 10 overs.

Then Dravid steps in and notches up 177*, Dhoni(110) and Yuvraj(68) also chip in with strong scores to produce a healthy total.

Stumps on day one and the score is 6/385.

Yeah Dravid was back to his best today . . .and Yuvraj played one straight drive that was perfect! I should have been left handed!!!

I was up at 4am and when the score was 4-32, I was thinking it was a repeat of the India - South Africa match in 2008.

Dravid was awesome today, his innings reminded me of how he batted during his peak (2000-2005). Yuvraj looked soo good before he threw his wicket away. Dhoni added the impetus, like he usually does during ODI innings.

Dravid has changed his approach to batting, hes playing far more shots now which is good, however it is strange how in the past he has batted with india in strong positions and frustrated attacks yet at 4/32 he comes out and plays like this! hats off to him, a man adapting to the modern game!

Hats off to rahul! Top batsman, a real masterclass bearing in mind the position he, yuvraj and dhoni found themselves in.

Mate Dravid was awesome....killer strokes....he was positive; and to play like that when you are 3/42!!! Damn!

Dhoni's shots never ceases to amaze me what a class act he is! The way he bats is just awesome.

It was awesome to watch Dravid's elegance and then on the other end watch Dhoni murder the ball.

I wouldn't use Class to describe Dhoni's batting.. Its so much more raw power..

Great innings by Dravid.. He on the other hand is nothing but class..

I meant HE is a class act not his batting style. I described his batting style as murder! Lol its all he does murders the ball.

Damnnnnnn Dravid is out on 177 not adding to his score.....I hate when that happens.

shouldn't that be in a different topic?? don't see how that has any impact on the match? some players might be wearing those but still no real impact on the match?  ???

Dilshan has been amazing lately.. India needs to figure out a plan before SL runs away it tomorrow morning..

Dilshan's just a slogger. All his hundreds are in the sub-continent. He rarely gets any big scores overseas in places like OZ, SA or England.

Mishra was awful. Soo many full tosses. Some of the blame has to go with the selectors tho, Mishra's been carrying the drinks for 6 months(barring two ODI's).

Same can be said about Shewag.. I mean the style of some1's batting is their personal preference as along they produce.. Dilshan is an innovate batsman thats whats impressive..

Mentioning Dilshan in the same breath as Sehwag is an insult to Sehwag. Until recently nearly all of Dilshan's hundreds have been against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe.

Sehwag has scored runs against all the big sides home and away. Also sloggers don't score multiple triple hundreds.

Come on man, Dilshan has 10 test centuries and 3 odi centuries

out of the 10, 1 against Zim and 1 against Bangla...
The rest are vs, India, Aus, Pak, NZ, Eng..

Only 1 out of the 3 odi has been vs Netherlands the other 2 have been vs SA & Pak...

Thats nearly all??

Thats 3 out 13.. Statistics wouldn't call that nearly all...

The multiple triple centuries you mention had alot alot of slogging in them..
Sehwag's biggest downfall is the footwork, without footwork all you can do is slog and get by on your hand eye coordination..

I mean i'm big big Sehwag fan, there isn't anyone more entertaining when hes got it going..

But to say that Dilshan is just a slogger is wrong.. he innovates so many shots..

the rest of the cricketing world is trying to play his trademark shot now..

BTW did you know 5 out of Sehwag's 11 100's in odi's have been vs NZ... Now thats more like nearly all..

India wants to be the number 1 ranked side in Test cricket, yet the Indian groundsmen keep producing these flat roads. Sooner or later India has to produce wickets with something for the bowlers, otherwise no young Indian will want to be a bowler!!!

We need some spinning tracks though mate. If all the pitches were fast and bouncy (which I love) then the aussies would rein supreme once more and we cant have that can we? ;)

Isn't a part of the Test Match, the test between the bowler and the pitch? I mean the SL bowlers, bowled on the same pitch.. We need to get real bowlers, Zaheer is the only fast bowler.. Ishant is bowling around 130-135 range.. Thats medium!!  >:(

Its over.. Nice to see Sreesanth back and doing well.. Dravid is playing amazing, he needs to be in the ODI team.. He hit a 4 on the last ball of the day!! That would be unthinkable from Dravid in the past..
