Title: Most runs off one ball witnessed
Post by: rich041187 on December 12, 2014, 11:16:52 AM
Just wondering what the most runs you have seen off a single ball has been live??
Had a funny 7 in one of our last games of the season last year where the batsman barely chipped it over the bowlers head and overthrow carnage ensued. The ball didn't cross the boundary once and the batsman was noticeably chuffed with a seven from a shot that barely left the wicket haha

Guessing there could be some high numbers if fielders lob it for 4 as well, which is often seen

8 on our 3rd XI ground!
Tiny square boundaries, single, overthrow, extra 1, 6 overthrows!

Nope, boundary to boundary for 6!
Should've been 4 as it had already touched the ground, but the umpire looked bemused and signalled 6 overthrows haha

I was under the impression that if a fielder throws the ball over the boundary it is a four and not six overthrows.

Yeah, it should've been four, but it was given as 6 by a very bemused umpire (and it's not something you see often so I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't aware of this)
