Title: What can you buy for £3.50
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on December 20, 2014, 10:46:12 AM
When you spend £3.50 you usually expect a coffee to go, or a supermarket sandwich.
However, if you spend enough time on eBay you can pick up some willow for that price!

My first bat was a Harrow Woodworm torch, and I've been looking for a decent condition one for a couple of years.

I stumbled accross this listing the other day, and put in a bid not expecting to win. As it turns out I was the only bidder and I won!

Even with postage it was less than £10, so I'd say this is a bargain as a refurb project.

What arrived was this

As you'd expect from a bat that's up to 10 years old there are a couple of signs it's been used.

As you can see there's a few little cracks but that doesn't bother me.
A bit of glue and a fine sanding should have this bat looking lovely again.

Now for those who want to know.
28mm edges
61mm spine
Weighs 2lb10.5 in its current state.

I'll update with more pictures as the refurb progresses.

I concur. It bought a grade 1 Salix Big edge for £28 delivered and yesterday a pair of woodworm pads for £0.99 plus £5 delivery. Now at last I can get rid of my canvas pads. I thank all those people who get rid of last year's kit just because in is last seasons. Some Cricketers are worse fashionistas that the Hollywood wives. I thank them for that.

Not £ 3 .50  but for £6.00 (the asking price )  in Sept I brought a G.N bag 2 pairs of batting gloves 2 pair  of pads all good condition and a G.N. helmet with a broken chin strap which I have repaired from a car boot.I offerred 6.00 for the bag as that's all I wanted but the seller insisted i took the lot.
Also brought a pair of brand new Adidas red stripe spiked shoes for £4.00 from a charity shop.

Another good source of cheap bats is the shop at the rubbish dump. For between 2-3 quid I have picked up a slazenger v500 elite, Extra small boys pads for my daughter, a perfect Stac Black Prince and an Easton. I hate seeing useable bats go to waste. So, when you take your Christmas tree for recycling pop into the shop there (if your council has one) and get some bargains.

Nothing too drastic wrong with that bat mate. Proper bargain.
