I managed to pick up a couple of Octane 404 bats today and I realised that they had differing handles. Pictures below show the difference between the two handles. The smaller knob is made of cork while the larger knob uses rubber.

Comparing this with the rest of my GM bats, the larger knob bats date back further, with the smaller knob found on the 2014 Octane and 2015 Mogul. However, the larger knob octane is the only to have a rubber insert.

Anyone care to shed to light on this? @Perkins17

Middle octane is indian made a refurb or fake?
Gm have used cork for a few years, and the original octanes had really thin handles. The rubber insert handle looks thicker.

Both bats are from the same GM retailer so highly doubt one is fake. The handles are noticeable thinner on the smaller knob bats.

Thankfully two of the GM's are my mates, still means I have 12 bats kicking around the house. I have the painful decision of tpwhich to keep and sell soon.

So with two types here we have a treble sprung rubber handle which is the older shape of handles pre 2012 and the other is the post 2012 treble sprung cane handle which was designed to be a slimmer fit in the hand.

Thanks for the information mate. Why do some of the pre 2012 bats have rubber and some have cork? Is that due to difference in models? @Perkins17

Well to be honest it could be a number of things as the rubber handles are used in some of the lower grade bats, and it could have just been taken out of one batch and made in to an Octane or even that the cork one was selected at a higher grade and then downgraded after finishing.
