Title: Red Ink Cricket
Post by: harry gamble on January 15, 2015, 10:03:42 PM
Seeing a lot of stunning looking red ink custom bats on here is making me very jealous and not really knowing the company just wondered if anyone could give me any ideas of what they are like, where i can buy from and what the custom service is. (Liam this is one for you knowing you have two of them)

I've just been dealing with John over a recent desire for a new bat and I have to say the experience has been top notice. I'm sure the actual
Bat will be just as good!

I bought full kit from John a few months back including custom made bat, softs and bag, communication was excellent prices really good and delivery spot on.

The bat it's self was finished very well and exactly as I requested with John adding his own flare to the profile. The bat is a little hard and will need plenty of mallet and throw down time but all in I'm well pleased with full kit for less than the cost of a GN players

John makes a good bat. And when things do go wrong.  His customer service is top notch.

I would have to agree with what has been said. After seeing Smilley's oversized bat I asked John for something similar, a tad lighter and in X3. I got a bargain of the century as it is a sunny bat and goes like a train! Really pleasant to talk to, and willing to put up with constant hows it going etc. Very happy indeed, and I would much rather give my 100 pounds to somebody I can talk to if something goes wrong and get a completely custom bat, than a g4 import.

I've got 2 red inks: an incredibly lightweight custom Bradman inspired one and latterly one of his new shape the Sirius. When I get back off holidays I will post pictures. The first bat was hard pressed but opened up nicely with knocking in for few minutes everyday over month. John has a can-do attitude and made my custom when others said they couldn't or wouldn't. He posted one to England and one to Australia and both arrived in great condition with finishing second to none. Prices are fair. Always beautiful sticks, that garner praise and attention.

2.12 flat with one grip and some bat wax. I think it probably picks up an ounce or two lighter.

Been said by plenty of people but I've bought a decent amount of Red Ink stuff now so; bat - excellent, softs - excellent, service - excellent, definitely recommend!

I got a grade 3 from Red Ink. Custom profile. The bat is sounding great after 1 hour of knocking. Also have the Pyro gloves and they look lovely and are comfortable.
Top service from John.

Looks an absolute gun, is it right that the stickers can be sort of customised and rejigged to how you want them

x3? is that the grade of willow, so x1 and x* would be grade one and grade 1 plus

I much prefer a big oval or a thicker handle. It seems so many bats have thinner handles these days!

I don't normally send stickers separately. I like to make sure anything with my name On is genuine. ive done a couple recently where they didn't want the bottom 2 on the back. Happy to do so as it still carries the name.

Grading is as you thought. X1 is grade 1, x2 is grade 2 etc. X* is the top grade we do

From what I've read on here it doesn't sound like you'll be disappointed?

I'm in the process of getting a 45cm bat made for my 2 year old daughter by John so looking forward to that.  I was very close to getting one for myself in Nov but got an Aldred instead.  I'm sure a Red Ink will join my collection soon though.
