Do they flash when the stumps are broken? Never mind.. Google just answered that one :)

Do they flash when the stumps are broken?

Flash when the sensors pick up on impact/movement, only gave them a quick trial run in the net but seemed to do a good job. Will give a more comprehensive run down when they come into stock.

Do they seem very durable?

Hard wearing outer shell looks like it will hold up against impacts. Have been sold and used in Aus for a while now so i suspect any problems that may have arisen will be ironed out already.

Ah makes sense, I only ask because one got destroyed in the BBL game this morning. Mind you we don't have anyone bowling 85mph! So are they the same ones as they use in the BBL?

Not exactly the same no. The BBL ones are designed in conjunction with the light up stumps, whereas these ones work with any set of stumps.

Delayed by the manufacturer until at least June. A potential problem affecting circa 1% of units has been identified and they have decided to carry out a redesign, hence the delay.

That's a pain mate

Pretty disappointing. But the manufacturer states they would rather get it 100% right now than have to recall/redesign down the line which is fair enough i suppose. I know plenty of people who would probably take the risk on a failure rate of 1%. Terrible timing though as orders are flooding in off the back of the world cup.

These must be the most desired product at the minute!

I know a number of people who are waiting for these.

Any news on these Jake?

Still delayed due to a manufacturing fault I am afraid.

No further word on a date of arrival

Lots of delays on these all Summer unfortunately, despite this we have a healthy list of pre-orders.

The suppliers have finally got stock to the UK distributor and it looks as though the delays are finally behind us.

Circa 100 packs of Zing Bails will arrive to us tomorrow, most of these will go straight out to people who have pre-ordered, but if you are interested in a set there will be limited surplus stock. Please get in touch ASAP.

Am I missing something here - I get that bails that light up on impact is a fun idea, but other than that what is the advantage if these when the bails have to come off for a dismissal so tends to be pretty obvious, regardless of whether they light up or not?

They light up when dislodged from the stump groove, ultimately without the aid of a slow motion replay this amounts to little more than a bit of fun and a cool visual aid. But judging by the pre-orders, which have arrived in massive volume, not many people are too fussed.

Move fast as most of this is pre-sold.

I assume they're marketed as 'backyard' because they'll say if they break they shouldn't be used for proper cricket anyways?

I've just seen you retweet the zinger stumps, are they any good? Have they sorted out the breaking issues?

I'm not aware of any breaking issues? The bails were delayed by over 6 months to the UK because the manufacturer had identified a potential fault with 1% of units so decided to start again to ensure the product was right. I assume their attitude towards the stumps will be the same.

The stumps are very much for back garden junior use. They are not senior size and are fixed into a base so can be used on hard indoor surfaces, driveways etc.

Oh I see, I was under the impression that they broke if a ball hit them! Shame about the stumps being junior size though.

The stumps or the bails? We used the flashing bails for the second half of the summer, no problems. The stumps i have not seen yet other than the example at the trade show. But intended for kids so probably unlikely to take a high speed impact.

The bails. I must have missed something then.

whats the weight like of these are they nice and weighty or light?

Sold 60+ sets this Summer, obviously i don't know all of those were used in hard ball cricket, but i imagine most were, including the Dublin Sixes organised by Kevin O'Brien. We provided them with the bails for the tournament in September.
