Title: Bat Repair gone wrong help needed...
Post by: Cricket_PTY on January 22, 2015, 04:55:52 PM
Hey guys...

Working in a minor repair with this  bat....

When the guy who works for me was drilling the bat to insert the dowel... i dont know wht he was thinking or doing and just beside the hole for the dowel he did like another hole or gap...

How i can fix it or have to fill it with wood filler or something like that...

Please advice...

Ur gonna have to chop put the hollowed out section and replace it Id suggest.

I'm sure a few threads on here will demonstrate this method but wood filler on a toe isn't going to end well.

Either square it off with a chisel, An easy job in a soft timber, and splice in a new piece. Or, as it is at the bottom of the bat just sand it out. Filler/epoxy will just fall out after a hit.

looks like the drill slipped when he started.. just sand it, its on the edge and won't look pretty....or buy another bat! :-) can't belive it wasn't the first reply

Because of where it is i wouldn't bother with filler etc just sand and blend the shape.

My inner pikey is thinking put a bit of dowel in there, then blend the shape once its stuck  ;)

Then twine the toe and it will look great and hold well.

Glue in a piece of dowel assuming it's a half round hole, trim the first dowel back and then plane the edge back flush. Simple repair.
