Hi Guys
Im from New Zealand so want to get this right before its sent out to me, i'm Looking at buying The Joker and am just a little concerned about selecting the right weight. Im used to using a 2'8 Bat and have read that the pick up of The Joker makes it seem lighter than what i is. From what everyone knows about it, would i be best sticking with a 2'8 Joker or Ordering a 2'9 Joker?

Never seen or used one but surely with all the weight at the bottom wouldn't the pickup be heavier so surely if anything go a little later or counterbalance the handle?
What advice did Charlie from BC give?

He advised to Stick with the 2'8 if thats what im used to using. Was just a bit concerned as i purchased a 2'8 Bat last time i needed a new blade and it was balanced that well it felt lighter.

I've used one for a few throw downs. Not sure of the weight but it felt really light

I don't think an ounce is going to make much difference, to be honest, unless it's positioned down towards the toe. Which it won't be.
Dead weight isn't as important as how it picks up in the hands, and I don't think you'll have any problems on that front.
Whichever one you go for, post up some photos and let us know how you get on with it - or it never happened!

I have a 2'12 joker extreme and usually use 2'9, used it for a season without any dramas with weight. Mind you I have now gone back to using 2'9 bats, tried the joker the other day and timing was all out of whack. So is probably best to do whatever Charlie advises

Stick with 2.8lb.
I jumped from 2.8 to 2.11 and my timing was shot, Sold the 2.11 went back to the 2.8 and had my best season ever.

I don't think an ounce will make that much difference and with enough practice you can get use to any weight/balance.
Personally, I would stick to what you think is best, not what others say, however I would always consider any advice given.

Im along this lines of going 2'9 as a few of you have said that 2'8 - 2'9 an ounce wont do alot. Ive had 2'10 in a GN Predator about 8 years ago and that was too heavy but the balance for that was absolute (No Swearing Please)! I think with a well balanced 2'9 blade i should be ok. The Joker is one of the sexiest bits of Willow i have ever seen. Are there any Similar looking competitors? I have noted a few NZ made Lavers (the T20 and the Special Reserve, really like the Special Reserve) But what has me with the Joker is that the Wood is Grown by the company themselves. Special Reserve v The Joker, Joker by a mile i would assume???

I have a joker ish rep. It picks up like the weight it is. Mine is 3.2 mind........

If any of your bat's pick up like they're 2lb9 it's a form of magic, with the weights you use, Chris! ;)

If a 3lb bat picked up 2.9, I'd send it back and ask them to make me a 3.5 one instead!

Based on a few of you saying the difference of an ounce isnt that much, and also based on the Fact for a Big Bat, the Joker is very well Balanced (not bottom heavy etc), i will be placing an order mid week for a 2'9 Joker. Can someone enlighten me, ive heard different things in regards to this, Do Black Cat Bats now come already knocked in?
-
Sorry for the hi-jack but does anyone have a contact number for Black Cat/ Charlie they can share please?
