Bored. Was playing with the red ink. So decided to compare to my new b3. And then fetched the other pretty big bats out.
Laver and wood mega-special reserve-3.1- £235
Red ink oversized -X3- 2.15 -£145
B3 mullanator-1Stripe- 2.13 -£150
H4l tempo -devil -2.15 -£120
As you can see not all the same weight. Laver should be 2.14/15 with the redink and h4l but it put on weight.
The b3 at 150 in the new oversized experimental shape. I couldn't resist.
Pickups. B3 wins obviously. And buy alot. Seems an 0 lighter than it does. H4l next, I'd say high long spine and thin edges helps. Red ink next. And the laver last.
How I rate them.
Laver. Rated 3 of 4This thing is a beast. The ping is lovely and everywhere. Will be good in a t20 or end of innings slog. Pick up not great due to low spine and middle
Red ink. Rated 2 of 4 Love the profile, low middle suits my style of driving ping is lovely. Pick up helped by big spine. Very well made. John is a definite undiscovered gem in the cricketing world!
B3. Rated 1 of 4Higher middle with high spine means great pick up. Great for bohncey dotball nets. Middle is the largest feeling. Most of the blade goes. It's definately got the most overall wood in imo.
H4l. 4 of 4 Not a fan after years of wanting a tempo shape. It is very straight Up and down and i dont feel it suits my game at all. Middle although long feels thin. Off centre shots don't seem to go or feel great. Definately has the biggest spine here.
Pictures.

note. I know non are lookers. But currently I care more for performance than looks. And asked or looked for this when purchasing.

Really happy to be put up against some really good makers, even better that I fair pretty well! Glad you enjoy the bat mate.

Which ones actually feel their original weight i.e. not lighter or heavier.
Lovely bats by the way.

Difficult to say due to the weights I use and used to. My feel is different to others. Plus i like my bat to feel it's weight.
The b3 picks up to light for me. But then it is too light. It feels as though it's about 2 to 3 oz to light, and as it's only 1 oz below my preferred 2.14. I'd say it picks up lighter.
A lad at nets that uses 2.7harrows due to size had half a net with it wed and reckons he'd be able to use it midweek. So maybe a compliment on its pick up.
Red ink and h4l both pick up well due to high spine. Both feel around my preferred 2.14.
The laver is a 3 lb beast and feels it.

I thought the Devil grade was the lowest grade H4L? I can imagine then it being less responsive than the others.
I've just bought a G2 Tempo. It will be interesting to compare it the the few other bats I have. That includes a Safbats Hades copy in butterfly grade from Matt.

Willow is graded on looks, not performance.
Much like women, a total stunner can be totally unresponsive while a hunter can go like the clappers!
Lower graded willow doesn't always equate to lesser performance.

I got a Tempo devil from Matt and it was a gun. Sold it to a team mate as he loved it.

Thanks for sharing. I've been fascinated with the profile of the tempo devil and disappointed its faired so poorly. Kudos to B3 and Red Ink. All too heavy for me, but still awesome bats.

I have an oversized red ink in a lighter weight :) and it is delightful! All great looking bats. If you had to say value for money which is the best?

Red ink. Just wins over b3 as it is in my weight. The laver is expensive for a "performance grade" but it's a laver..... Got toown one at some point.
H4l had I ordered a non tempo devil may well have won at 120!
