A thread for all counties, but I will start as they were announced last night.
Yorkshire will have Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell, which will be interesting.
Finch is very popular and a good re-signing by his time he will be playing in all formats from May (after IPL).
Maxwell less so, a bit Marmite. Who will play 20 & 40 over games (after IPL).

Overall, I think the two bring some great excitement to the team. Shame they lost Williamson but Maxwell has potential to do well (or fail miserably).

Sweet glad to see finch back.
be good to see if the Yorkshire influence turns maxwell into the player he can be like it did for Williamson, starc, Tendulkar. ....

Glenn '
big no show' Maxwell
Look out for him the day before matches, used to be out in town quite often.
Saw him in 90 degrees in southampton at 3am the day of a T20 match last season! :D
-
Does anyone else think that if it wasn't for IPL, Maxwell wouldn't be so popular.
Great addition to YCC, he will thrive here, county level bowling is just not up to that standard to expose his weaknesses.
-
Its a shame that Kane Williamson won't be back this year - he was not always the most box office to watch but he produced superb results and was only going to get better. But two good signings for us - the only question would be whether MAxwell might actually be a better bet in first class cricket than Finchy!
-
Watch out for Rehman at Somerset, if he's anything like as good as last time, when he tied people in knots. Just hope he can stay off the funny fags.

As a Yorkshire fan I'm chuffed to see Finch back, popular signing and terrific player to have across all formats. Big shame Williamson isnt returnig this year, but he will be back in time I'm sure, really starting to score loads of runs and becoming one o the leading players in the world.
with regards to Maxwell, I'm on the fence, personally never been a fan of him, certain arrogance in him i dont like and his performances are nowhere near consistent enough to back up all the hype. To come over and play once a week for us, in just the t20, i cant imagine him being cheap. And if we dont make finals day, its a lot of cash down the drain, but i'm more than happy to be proven wrong by him and the side. If he wins us 3 games out of nowhere, that would be a decent return

Maxwell might be hit and miss but he is exciting, surely a good addition from a fans point of view.
-
good fit for the team too - provides a second spin option for Root's absence and a bit more hitting power than they have at the moment.

Seemed to be last year :(.
Hampshire have Jackson Bird and Yasir Arafat so far with rumours of Kyle Abbott to return in the 2nd half of the season :).

Maxwell must have a very good agent because although he was decent back in 2012 for Hampshire he was utterly dire in 2013 & 2014.
In the T20 in 2013 for Surrey he scored 142 runs in 8 innings'(top score of 32) at a S/R of 124 and took 1/57 off 8 overs in the competition.
In 2014 for Hampshire he scored 127 runs in 11 innings'(top score of 30) at a S/R of just 118. He also bowled 3 overs for no wickets conceding 34.
So glad Surrey didn't resign him, the only good thing he did for us was help us win the 2nd XI T20 cup! Not really the sort of return you want from a million dollar man...
-
His highest score for us (Hampshire) ironically came in what I believe was his only one day match where he scored 100 odd I think. I'd have thought with Finch being there last season and Gillespie being the coach he has quite a few links at Yorkshire though. Also came across in interviews as someone very keen to play his cricket however and the sort of guy who would want a contract over here, even if it payed fairly little in comparison to the rest of his income of which I presume it would, something nice to see.

Surrey have signed Sangakkarra. Rumour is Jayawardene as 2nd overseas for T20s and Sanga's replacement when he's away on SL duties...
-
Leics have somehow got Clint Mckay...question is will they actually win a game in the championship this year. Wouldn't put money on it
-
Northants (my home county) have got Rory Kleinveldt and Richard Levi for the whole season, which makes a complete contrast to last season having a nightmare getting hold of anyone. They also have Afridi for the 1st 6 T20 Blast matches (although this is subject to PCB clearance) which should be interesting to say the least.
Out of the others that i have heard about i think Jackson Bird will get a stack full of wickets at Hampshire, Adam Voges at Middlesex is a very shrewd bit of business and Philander and Hilfenhaus will get the wickets to support Notts strong batting line up.
-
My team Durham have managed to retain the services of one of the players of the recent Big Bash, in John Hastings! I was a bit dubious about getting him last year, but he soon proved me wrong!! That will no doubt be it though for us due to our struggles with money!

I wonder if Maxwells performance against England change opinion somewhat?

Not really, a loose cannon who fires once in a blue moon...

Yorkshire Yorkshire Yorkshire.
So we have Younis kahn signed to cover finch while he is in the ipl.
Finch will then return and play till mid august when he joins he aus odi side.
Williamson has just signed to take over from finch untill the end of the season.
Yorkshire showing serious intent there to try and defend there title in the 4 day game.
Add maxwell to the hit and giggle. And it should be a good year

The best player in the sheffield shield over the past 2 years is Adam Voges. 249 today, has 769 @ 182 in his last 7 innings. Made 770 @ 55 last year. Nearly at 10, 0000 first class runs. He is likely to be in the Aust squad to tour windies and england. He'd be the one I'd be after....

Rubbish..... and dont you wish you had someone that would fire even that often?

We did. They fired him.

Hahaha gold..... he was/is awsome...his class shone in the bbl especially when batting wasnt easy, only english selectors could commit such a monumental f up

As a Hampshire fan we've had him, twice!
Do I want to see him back, no...
