Title: Asics gel odi
Post by: sloggerroz on February 02, 2015, 10:42:12 AM
Do any of the forum sponsors know when they will be getting the asics gel odi's in stock? I know there pricey but thinking of treating myself. Will they be about the £150 mark?

I think that price for a pair of cricket shoes is completely unnecessary.  Most I have spent on a pair of boots is 65 quid!

The lightest and comfiest shoes i have ever come across to be fair to them. These are the flagship model to showcase all their cutting edge tech, and they certainly look and feel the business. Will they sell in huge numbers? Of course not but flagship/showcase items rarely do.

On the flipside, i've had a few people pay £45 to spike up a set of circa £100 trainers. Better to get a specifically engineered cricket shoe for that sort of money if you ask me but everyone has their own preferred footwear.

Our price will be £155 with free delivery.

Is this noticeably different from the Gel Advance 6?

Yes. Lighter, more support, can't really say comfier as this is personal preference, but to me there isn't too much between the 2 in this respect.

A better question is whether it is worth so much more than the Gel 6, which is a fantastic shoe in its own right. I am surprised by the number of ODI's we have sold, i've had to re-order some more. The Gel Adv 6 is selling as well as ever of course and is obviously much more popular.

Wore these in two games over the weekend. Incredible comfort and support, and so light. All of those things should be pre-requisite at the price but even so I am very impressed with them.

I'm a wicket keeper so can't really comment on their suitability for bowling, but i envisage no issues for spinners.

Can the metal spikes be replaced with rubber ones? If so, would the the Asics "soft resin" rubber spikes work..or do we need something else?
