Title: Albion helmet quality

Just received an Elite Pro from Millet Sports.
Looks good, and fits really well, but I'm concerned about a few things, so I've just emailed Albion (part of which I've reproduced below).
Be good to get the thoughts of forum members on the issues I've raised with them - especially if you own an Albion. Cheers!


Firstly, the welding and finish to the titanium grill looks substandard.
For a top of the range model, I find that surprising. Is this typical of the quality for these helmets?

Secondly, the faceguard was manufactured in 2013. I understand that since then, an updated version has been released, which I was expecting to receive with this model, considering it's now 2015. I'm guessing this is old stock. Would this be right?

Thirdly, the thread on two of the four helmet screws are not chrome plated and appear to be rusting.
Again, is this normal?

If you aren't happy you should take the lid back to the retailer.

The welding looks normal, but the rusting odd.

I could be wrong but ive found that albion steel grills have some sort of coating on which hides any welding etc where as the titanium have more of a natural finish and the welding is obvious and not as neat.

I agree that the rust should not be normal but if you got the helmet at a discounted price i would have thought it would have been an old model unless it was advertised as the newest

Thanks for thoughts chaps.

Albion's MD got back to me very quickly and interestingly, agreed that the welding/finishing wasn't what it should be - but didn't comment on the helmet screws. But he did thank me for drawing it to his attention.
Anyhow, I'm on to Millet Sports about a return and a replacement.
Be interesting to see if the next one is similar.

That's an old model and not the current one. If you don't mind me asking - what did it cost you?

Yeah, it is the old one, but there was no indication of that. Cost £89.89
