A while back B3 offered a number of butterfly clefts to forum members that were under the '400' cleft standard.
I am just wondering how they went? Did they perform straight away? Are they significantly drier than what you'd expect from a butterfly? And anything else you care to mention.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

400 is average. But under isn't classed as crown.
Probably 365 and under would be classed as crown with the right grain structure aswell(I'm sure dave will clear that up)
On to the bats, a 383 and 389 went to two team mates. They perform and feel much like my 2 410s.

left is 410, middle 389

I got myself a bat in the butterfly deal. I don't remember there being a crown option. My cleft was 402. Used it in the nets for the first time last week after minimal knocking in. The odd ball felt hard when it hit the stain. Other than that the ball flew.

Like the look of that middle one a lot!

Two more team mates.

left is 383 right is 423 I think. The right one had ridiculous ping! Shame the user isn't up to its use. Haha.
And my other 410

I scored 500 plus runs year with that last

Mine was turned into a long bladed powerbow original shape copy and those who bowled at it at the oval thought it went really well!
-
Thanks guys for the feedback so far. Yeah I don't think they were officially 'Crown' clefts but some of them went down to around 360 I believe.
I think Dave said the lighter/better looking ones were by no way the best performers.
Looks like the offer was a success. Another promotion like this won't go amiss I feel.

It's true. Definite ping-age

Mine was bang on 400 so not a super light cleft, started life like this:

and became a Bragg shape:

Wasn't too happy with the pickup when it arrived as it's a lot more bottom heavy than I'd usually use, but having given it a good chance in indoor games/nets/bola sessions, it's a gun, particularly off the stain. Several different teammates have commented in matches or nets on how hard the ball was coming off so it's not just me either, will be a strong contender for match use this season. Hope the offer or similar returns as I'd definitely buy again!

^ @edge Love the shape! What is the weight of the bat? Which shape is this? DB1?

Bragg shape, according to B3 should have been 2lb 10.5oz but I haven't had it on the scales myself. Suspect it may have come out heavier than that, it's a big old bat! Could just have been me though, couple of teammates have picked it up and immediately remarked on how light it felt to them.

I will have to look up Bragg shape for details but seems to have a subtle duck-bill, maybe its the picture. I have one duck-bill but it pings so high on the bat although it is bottom heavy.
How is the sweet spot on this? Mid-middle? High?
-
Very slight I suppose, don't think I'd describe it as a duckbill though. Have a look here for the cad profile: http://i61.tinypic.com/mk7p77.jpg (http://i61.tinypic.com/mk7p77.jpg)
Would say mid/mid-low middle, although it still pings well higher up.
-
That's better. The meat of bat is low/mid-low.

My 386 Butterfly, it goes like a rocket and is borrowed every week in the nets...

My 378 butterfly (in the middle) will be my match bat this season - it is awesome
