Title: Website hosting companies?
Post by: IWTUK on February 19, 2015, 09:04:20 AM
Morning Gents,

We're looking to launch our own club website and I wondered if anyone out there had any experiences with hosting companies? There is a bewildering array of sites like Godaddy, 1to1, Backspace etc etc, but I would appreciate a personal recommendation. We have a designer lined up (friend of a friend); the domain name is available, but a steer on hosting sites (good ones or ones to avoid) would be great if anyone has input from their own club?

Thank in advance for any help you can provide!

Never had an issue with Godaddy - decent price and easy to set up

It's not a hosting company as such but Pitchero pretty much covers most requirements for a cricket club and it's free for clubs with up to 3 teams. After that you pay for some reatively minor features or for more clubs. If you want add a domain, you just setup a domain and point it towards the pitchero url for £6 a year.

I use hittsports. Comes as a template and is very easy to manage and customise, though it is quite limited in what you can do. Still, for someone with not a lot of spare time on their hands and who was rail roaded into redesigning the clubs website, I cant fault it.

I've used Heart Internet before, they do very cheap and reasonable hosting and allow you to setup all sorts packages like Wordpress etc with a click of a button. Whenever i have had issues with them their support has been good too

Personally i would avoid Fasthosts, expensive and support is terrible in my experience

I use pitchero. For a free service I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is easy to set up and FREE.

TSO Host or EvoHost have always been good. Support is quick and prices are cheap too.
