What are people's thoughts on full v half spike? A lot of people say it is purely down to personal preference but are there any actual benefits of one over the other.
The reason I'm asking is I have a pair of trainers I am about to get spiked and I'm not sure whether to get full or half. All the spikes I have had have been full spike and the closest I have had to half spike were a pair of gel advances that had 2 spikes in the heel.

I bat in Adidas Sl22 spikes, they're the half spike version and I think they're fine, never had any problem slipping when running or problems turning for another run. However I bowl in full spike Asics Gel Gully shoes! I feel a full spike gives me more stability running in and grip when going through my delivery stride...

I don't really bowl any more so would mainly be used for batting and fielding. I read somewhere that some feel they have better movement when batting in half spikes but can't imagine that 4 spikes in the heel would cause much resistance
-
Yes you right you agree that have better movement no longer bowling I would go for half spike

I bat and bowl in the adidas howzats and wear full spikes all the time. Unless the ground gets baked solid this year I can see it continuing lol
-
personally wear full spikes unless teh ground is bone dry, then I'll wear bog standard trainers to field in. I'll still bat in spikes though to make my mark
-
I've virtually always gone with half spikes, no idea why, I just do.
I personally don't think it makes that huge a difference, full spike may have slightly better grip when turning/stopping, but rubber spikes have to be better than no spikes
-
Pre 2013 i always wore half spikes for everything.
Since i've worn half spikes to bat in (currently- Adidas 22yrds) and full spikes to field in (Asics 452s).

I use the same for keeping and batting, asics gel with metal spikes on the front and plastic on the heel. I find full spikes can sometimes catch the turf when you're tired and you don't pick your feet up when moving side to side.
