Hey guys. Im just a little worried regarding my bat. After oiling my bat and leaving it to dry my bat seems to be peeling of in 1 place on the edge and seems rough. As you can see in the pictures what is the cause of this and anything to worry about. The picture of the face of the bat it's like the same on the back and edges and one part of the edge it seems worser more wood peeled of and I have put that edge picture up to.

What did you use to oil it?
Looks like bits of paper towel left on there to me :-[

or dust in the air thats stuck to the oil residue?

Difficult to tell from the photos exactly what is happening but could be either
A. Glue residue from having removed a scuff sheet and the dust sticking to that.
B. A slightly interlocking grain structure of the willow that caused tearing when sanded.
C. Sanding across the grain.
Either way it is not a problem. Give it a sand with 120 grit paper and they should disappear.

Seen similar when Raw linseed oil had been used and the the bottle had not been shaken prior to use the oil had thickened allowing small
particles to form and couldn't be seen until the oil had dried on the bat.
