Evening guys
Someone at nets had mullered their bat. It was a very nice hits hard, bought "about 7-8 months ago"
Now here's the question, is he entitled to a repair or a refund, or should he give it to me to fix it? ;)
He's planning to go back to the shop be bought it from, but as we have @SOULMAN1012 on here I thought I'd ask his opinion.
Anyway, enough rambling, pictures. Is the repairable, under warranty still or is a new bat required?

Andrew should be able to mend it I would off fault he very highly skilled that's for sure
-
The repair isn't the issue, it's if he has to pay for it or not, his dad has paid for 3 bats over 18 months apparently and isn't buying him another one :-[
-
It all depends on how Salix think it got broken but they are well known for top customer service I think chris would be the best one to advise

I very much doubt he is entitled to a full refund. You can't use something for "7-8 months" and expect a refund, particularly as it looks very used!
If he is offered a repair for the cost of P&P he would be very lucky based on how much the bat looks like it has been used.
-
I don't think he wanted a full refund, he wondered if a repair would be likely.
I know what I'd say if I was asked but it's not my brand lol

I think it's always a difficult one for the manufacturers.
I would suggest that the amount that this bat has been used he probably won't be entitled to a repair.
Just my opinion though.

2 years use and b3 still repair my bat for free. Now that's top customer service!!

How old is he?
If the answer is older than 15 he should get a job and not expect his poor old Dad to buy his bats for him

That's a different discussion mate, but I couldn't agree more.
Then again, I've been working since I was 16, so I might be bias on the matter

That looks like he's tried to welly a yorker in which case he doesn't deserve a free repair!

Again I agree, but I said I'd ask for him and that is what I've done

From what i have gathered in terms of feedback from manufacturers (not commenting on behalf of Salix here) there is a lot of damage in that area of the bat aside from the obvious missing piece. It is very unlikely that all of the damage would have been sustained as a result of a single delivery. Based on the advice on most manufacturers, the bat should have been withdrawn from play long ago, and a repair sought. To continue to use a bat in such a condition increases the chance of serious damage as we can see in the photo.
Most manufacturers will carry out a free repair of any damage sustained within the first year, although some operate on a seasons use policy. They all have terms referring to things like 'proper use' ie you are not supposed to be hitting yorkers, but rarely do they actually refuse to help in this situation.

Looking at the cracks on the edge it doesn't look like it has been knocked in very well.
-
Best option is to send Salix an email with some pics and an explanation of what happened. In most cases a free repair will be done if less than 12 months old.

Thank you Chris :)
I'll pass the message on and he can do that.
