After being inspired by all the recent purchases on here I decided it was time for a new bat. After hearing good things about Helygen from a number of lads in the Lpool comp I decided to give them a try. I got in touch with Danny who was a pleasure to work with, and as you can imagine was very knowledgable about all things bat making. I was after a bat 2'9 plenty of grains and a similar shape to my old Aldred Silver Sovereign. About a week later my bat turned up and i wasn't disappointed :D.
The specs
Price 250 pounds
Weight 2'9
Edges 30mm
Spine height 55mm
Grains 12 with a strip of heartwood on the edge
Finishing, it is finished as well as any other bat I've owned, I opted for a sleeve but no toe guard.
After a bit of knocking in the bat is responding brilliantly and has great ping, hopefully have a hit on the ball machine with it this week and give it a decent workout. So far I'm very impressed, I think 250 pounds is a very reasonable price for a custom bat when many off the shelf bats are pushing 500 pounds RRP. I will definitely be investing in another Helygen at some point soon.
