Yeahh saw this on the highlights - the sole just completely tore away from the boot, miracle he didn't sustain any injury IMO

Hardly going to dent their sales. More damage done from cheap knock offs being bought than a single failure on TV.

Saw a pair of Pony spikes do that last year, then again having had 15 seasons use the owner couldn't complain too much lol

No really that surprised.

I was in one of the local cobblers here in Brisbane (Australia) a few weeks ago.
He had a whole stack load of cricket shoes he was sewing for one of the cricket shoe conversion podiatrists. These were already cricket bowling shoes that they had stripped the stock soles off and put on hard wearing soles that were glued and then stitched.

The guy told me apparently they were for an international team.... They were about size 15+ so maybe they were were for the West Indies.... lol

Anyway this was taking $150 cricket shoes and spending another $150+ to get them to the high impacts of fast bowling.....

At the end of the day, most softs/shoes/clothing are generally made by the lower/lowest bidder, so you would generally expect to see some faults.

I had this happen to me in a pair of footy boots playing on a 3G pitch. Sprained my ankle quite badly but I definitely got off lightly baring in mind how fragile my knees are.
