Title: About to give up
Post by: fromthehip on March 14, 2015, 10:41:46 AM
Love the idea love the bespoke design but just can't get them to fit and stay in place
Really annoying as I love them but after using them for nets over the winter I am ready to ditch.....as I can't be adjusting after every ball faced any advice on fitting would be good as they are obviously going to lose me a few quid as I doubt I could really get much selling them on as they have my initials on them......

Have you moulded them enough? I found it took a while to get them to mould to the shape of my legs. Also, how many straps have you used? I used three for the outer and two for the inner to make sure they stay in place.

I've 6 straps I've spent hours trying different variations just no better

You should be able fit them so you almost don't need straps. How aggressive have you been on adjusting them?

Georges advice. Don't be afraid to bend. Them proper man handle them. Bend them fully the wrong way. And then all the way back round.

Mine fit perfect. They mould to me and once on I forgot they are there. Love them.

I must admit i do struggle to find a comfortable fitting for the thigh pad - i've ditched the inner guard.

Fitting seems fine just seems to need adjusting every couple of balls in the nets, thats without any running between the wickets to contend with....

I ditched  and went back to  aero for same reason. Hope you got more  patience  and you should  get a decent  return off ebay or even here.

Aero P1s are a good. Gifted a pair to a friend and he loves them!

Having gone back to Aeros from Strettons I looked into most options.
The P1s are excellent protection, but I personally prefer the less bulky P2s personally.
Another added bonus is they're cheaper, and offer enough protection for most club players  :)

Mine are fine, took a while to shape, try, shape, try, shape, add a strap here and there etc etc

Now they fit well, I mainly tinker with it during batting out of habit, not because it's needed.

Aero P1's are aweful, P2's are decent though.

Can't get on with mine at all, had them for over a year, constantly bending and moving, and yes I am being super aggressive when moulding them! Wish I stuck with my remfrys!

Never heard this before. Why are P1s "aweful"?

personally found mine to be clumsy and cumbersome and then the 3-4 other guys around me with them said exactly the same. They all moved to P2's and loved them and I moved to Fox's. Can't say I've heard anyone in the flesh say they like P1's

Anyone wanna swap a set of Stretton's for a set of P2's?

i can sell my p1's for £20

I split them into a thigh pad and an inner thigh pad so they are more versatile

What size and version of the P2s are you looking for?

I love my Stretton Fox set and found they fit very well. The protection is great and you feel absolutely nothing when you get hit. Saying that I have never used Aero's so can't really compare.

@123* I've got a set of P2's in large. Used last year for about 15 games

I love my P1s and their fit. Obviously, they are the right size for me.

When I first got my Stretton Foxes, I was about to give up on them as the inner thigh guard would creep around to the inside of my leg every time I ran.

Then I came up with an ingenius solution.

I took the extra strap they supplied (actually, they supply a few extra straps) and I attached it to the inner thigh pad and ran it across behind my back over the top of the regular strap and fastened it to my thigh guard.

What that does is that it prevents the inner thigh guard slipping out of place and everything sits exactly where it should be.

I love my SF's so much, that I would never dream going back to my P2s. I tried my P2s at training a couple of times, and I just don't feel right with them. The SFs are simply the greatest thing since sliced bread!

I can take a pic of how I configure my thigh pad set up so you can see what I mean and then you can try it for yourself.

If it is good enough for Sangakarra, Root and Williamson just to name three, it is good enough for me. In fact, even if they didn't wear them, they would still be the best I have ever worn!

i love my strettons, don't be afraid to bend them the opposite way and hold for around 5 seconds. They'll eventually mold to your leg shape, I've had mine for about 10 months and they're fine. Just spend a little time getting them sorted. Although i didn't play much last year do to injury.

I'd never go back to my P2's.

May be good for all us that love and get on with our Strettons to show some pics on how we do the straps

May give others help and ideas to get the desired set up.

I second this suggestion. I am in the process of ordering some and am keen to see how people fit theirs.

This is what @Vic Nicholas might be referring to;

Like every swathe/fabric product it requires time to break in and mould.

Guys I've just read this thread and am so sorry there seems to be issues with fit. Also some of your usernames are tricky so I can't always tell who's who !!

Would it help if I posted a straps video regarding pads moving around etc ?... Also the "X" shaped lower leg straps are helping a lot of users.

Hope this helps & looking forward to hearing your thoughts...

George

Random thread revival I know but......

I want to refurb mine, and saw a used set up come up cheap, so purchased as a spare set.

Usual spiel on add. "Tried but they don't fit, move about, don't mold to me" etc etc.

I bid, I won, they arrived.

Surprise suprise. They are as straight and as stiff as the day the probably left George. 5 mins of folding bedding and holding and they fit me perfect!

I'm gonna right this in capitols as it baffles me how impatient people are that give up!

WATCH GOERGES VIDEO ON MOULDING! DONT BE A PUSSY, BEND THEM AS FAR AND AS HARD AS YOU CAN!
KEEP TRYING TILL THEY FIT.

They really are the dogs when it comes to protection and they really really do fit so well once a little effort is put in to shaping them.

I love the second hand set i bought! I use them in every net session and they offer top class protection.

I watched the vid and just gave it a go and they fit perfect. I'm very happy with mine as well.

I have a set of large P2 pads that are splitting - so will wear them whilst netting until they have had it and chuck them!
But for matches it will be my SF's! Once you get used to them and they are fitted well, there is no point in wearing anything else!
Once my 'net only' P2's have finally taken their last hit in the nets, I will decide whether to wear a normal thigh guard as I like to keep the Fox's for best!

George, A video on straps would be great as I have issues with pads moving around too. Thanks

Thanks Arun, OK theres a new website going online early Feb at www.strettonfoxsports.com (http://www.strettonfoxsports.com) (replacing the blog) which will have videos and how to's. I'll do a full bend and strap video (probably won't call it that though!)

Before then, key thing is to get the corners anchored down. Traditionally thigh pads just attach in the centres or close to the middle, get the edges pinned and really get a tight fit.

Drop me an email if you need specific help, I'm always happy to chat

Cheers!

I'm a bit more than a 36 inch waist but George made me a fatty size towelled strap for mine when I asked nicely
