Just to clarify the  ones  that are £ 10.00 are the 2014 d30 black and orange shoes not the white black yellow 2015 ones.

Has anyone got these?  Are they any good?

My Dad just bought some for his recent tour and he likes them but he doesn't run around so much these days so he's not much of a barometer.  He's also started to wear sandals with socks so he's kinda given up when it comes to fashion as well

They are light and comfy in a stripped down way, like running spikes. Good, if not excellent, value! I wasn't initially impressed with the D30 protection claims but the I did this….

Nothing wrong with the look of that. v nice profile. How was the face?

Do yo think it would be a bit strange to walk in with a mallet and start tapping them up?

I don't think they'd be over the moon with you taking a mallet, which is essentially a hammer, in there for any reason!

Not bad, i think it had between 6-8 straight grains. The bat seemed better than the Fusion bats I had last year. Ask a member of staff, should be alright.

Have you ever been in SportsDirect?
The staff go out of their way to avoid talking to you, so they'd probably turn a blind eye!

Very good point. I just assumed they were all mute?  ???

To be fair though, the pimpley faced teenager in the polyester tracksuit that works there may not understand the nuances of cricket bat testing and use their rapealarm to alert a real adult if they see you weilding a mallet. You'll terrify them that you're there to smash up the enormous mugs or even worse damage the Dunlop Golf Clubs or the Donnay Tennis Rackets!

Just open up the plastic packing on their soft-as-anything cricket balls and bounce a few off the bat. They won't care.

Can't diss the mugs! They are the ultimate in early morning caffeine infusion!

Saw these today, between 12-16 grains all pretty straight and just a bit of colour on one side.

The v1200 middle is too low for me. The v800, despite the duckbill didn't pick up very well. I suspect one was too heavy and the other just didn't feel right. The round handles didn't help either. I looked at the v600 excel? As well and it has a much flatter bleached face. I suspect its from a different supplier.

I picked up a nice one in Oxford city centre today. I thought the pick up was good. Would have said it was 2.9ish - or it felt like a bat I could use happily. Good looking wood too, not dissimilar to those above.

They had two in Leeds sports direct not as nice looking as them picked up well mind both 2-9 and a real bargain I did cheekily bounce a ball on them tapped up ok 2 sprung handles as well and nice 40mm drop duck.

Lovely bats for the price

I would avoid those boots if you intend to bowl pace in them. Although very light and very comfortable I managed 30 overs in them before by toes ended up poking through the 'D30' protection. Perfect however when I was batting and rooted at first slip.

Where are you lot finding these?
My local sports direct has 3 of the painted Slazenger bats bunged in a corner next to the Dunlop golf racquets!
No chance of finding anything half decent

That was in a tiny SD in SW London, they only had two SH bats in the store. One of them happened to be this one

Unfortunately every SD store seems to differ on the size of their cricket sections and some seem to get better or worse (Leeds used to be pretty decent but is very hit and miss now).  Was in London at the weekend and went to Lilywhites which is now Sports Direct I believe and they had the biggest and best cricket section I've seen in one of their stores up on the 5th Floor.  There were some pretty decent sticks if you rummaged far enough.

Also try online, I picked up a lovely GN Matrix from their website for £75 (Topic is in the Gray Nics thread).

Popped into the Norwich store this morning and found some decent stuff! Impressed by the Spartan sticks, performance was good and quality of the stickers impressed me. Slazenger sticks were Indian made but were big profiles.

Good selection there, not a fan of the CG Spartan but the Dhoni one looks a steal for £90, those V12's seem good value as I'm sure the cheapest I've seen one of those is £200.

I know you can try your luck online, but you guys who find even half decent bats in store are spoilt!
I live near 3 Sports Direct stores and the cricket range they stock ranges from sparse to non-existent, one had three bats, one had a few knitted jumpers and some bat breakers and the other no cricket stuff at all! Also, I've realised how pikeyish an area I must live in to have 3 Sports Directs within half an hour of my house lol  :-[

The two Spartan models were very similar, both had square toes, duck bills and large bulging sweetspots with little concaving. None picked up horribly and were pretty decent for Sports Direct.

Did you see any of the Spartan softs in there as only saw the lower graded ones recently so not sure on quality etc.. Must say I'm tempted by that Dhoni one  :)

Only a couple of pairs of cheap gloves.
