Title: Club Bat/Looking for a Cheap Bat
Post by: Silver Bullet on March 23, 2015, 05:14:09 AM
Our club board has decided that it is unfair to expect a perpetual tailender to carry their own bat, given that we're all amateurs playing for fun. We have made the decision to stock the club kit with a bat or two. Looking for some reccomendations for cheapest possible bat that could serve the purpose. Not looking for a plank and not looking to spend more than probably 75 quid. Does sucj a thing exist ?

Speak to Jake at Vitas mate, Hunts County would be a good shout possibly a mettle range, part from that maybe if you ca. Stretch the budget a GM 606 or GN powerblade or Force. But sticking closer to budget look at Hunts mate.

A lower end GM
The budget GN range looks good too
MSR
Hunts

Still don't see why the tailender doesn't have to carry a bat, do they need their own softs or are they provided too?

Sports Direct - you can get some ugly but pingy Slazengers for about £50 a pop.

I bet most do but if as a club you can encourage people into playing by ensuring they don't have to rush out and spend a 100+ on gear just to have a game then thats got too be a good thing.

Having said that I think it would be fair to expect a player who plays regularly (and can afford it) to get their own gear though.

Just my 2p worth.

I know for us, we have a few guys who only play one or two games a year and it wouldn't really be fair to tell them sorry no bats. Its the same with softs, we just have some really really cheap (SD specials) gloves and pads. They have lasted 2 seasons and are pretty nasty now but nobody cares.

Which ones ? I just assumed they'd be dead planks. I've heard the handle vibrates on all the lower end Slazenger's.
