Hi All,
A couple weeks ago I was netting as usual and felt a slight tinge in my lower left back (right arm bowl) - thought nothing of it but the pain continued to exist (pain occurs upon release of the ball).
Decided it would be best to give it a week off and again yesterday first ball I'm struck again by this lower back pain! Anyone else had something similar to this? is there any good warmups or stretches to help cure this pain I don't really want to take a long period off nor do I want to bowl mediocre spin in the nets!
Slightly off topic as well over the years (im only 21) iv become considerably slower which my team are telling me is due to my wrist rolling to the side at the point of delivery so im constantly bowling cutters! Personally It feels like it comes out naturally like this - can anyone advise on how to straighten my wrist as everything else iv tried doesn't seem to really work!

As a 21 year old male I'm sure you can think of a wrist strengthening exercise by yourself! ;) :D

Get some proper one to one coaching, if you can. It sounds as if you may be falling away in your delivery stride.
Does your left foot splay towards the slips/third man in your delivery stride or does your left leg bend through your action?
both will cause what you describe, but there may be a number of reasons for it. If you want to get your speed back you will need to have your wrist/fingers behind the ball at the point of release.
Check out some video's of Brett Lee's action - it was very "pure" for a fast bowler - much like Dale Steyn's action

Hi Buzz,
Yes I probebly should of mentioned my left leg does go rather wide towards the 3rd man region!

So the first thing you need to do is straighten your front foot up and have it pointing down towards the keeper in your delivery stride. This is really important - I have seen many bowlers who splay their font foot and they are usually chuckers too. You certainly want to avoid those accusations.
Then work on ensuring you brace your front leg through delivery.
That will keep you more upright through your delivery stride and potentially sort a number of your bowling issues out.
Read Ian Pont's thoughts on the subject. It will help you a lot

@ianpont just tweeted this picture it says exactly what I was trying to say in my post above...
