afternoon all
Im looking at getting our soft goods range back up and running again after a couple of seasons off.
Using the ole if it aint broke dont fix it approach we are looking at the Elite glove again in the black and white colour scheme as per below, now I have a pair of these and whilst they are great the wristband in white has become grubby and dirty over the winter so im considering flipping it to a black one with a narrow white stripe going through it. Again they will feature genuine pittards palm and the same shark tooth design :D
(http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq167/tom_ayrtek/null-8.jpg) (http://s444.photobucket.com/user/tom_ayrtek/media/null-8.jpg.html)
Now here's where I would like people input, would you prefer the white wristband or the black so that it stays cleaner looking for longer?
With a price point £60.00 inc UK postage...if any forum members should want to pre-order a set let me know as I can tag them onto our order :D
-
Love the look of these - are you doing them in small mens/youth sizes?
I prefer the white wristband (then again I haven't seen a black version).
Must admit, I did like the old green pattern too.
-
@trypewriter i can tag on some extra "Youths" to the order as I wear that size so was ordering a few pairs anyway :)
The green were always popular but people seems to prefer the Black and White as it tied in with the colour schemes of other bat stickers/pads etc easier.
-
Well if your going to re launch them, why not consider beefing up the finger bottom protection. BTW they look a lot like GN legends, same manufacturer?
-
Forget the gloves boys, grab a pair of the pads when they're available again!
Still regret selling nine to this day :(
-
@Stumper not sure what you mean by "finger bottom protection"?
I wouldnt imagine its the same manufacturer or that GN looked at our design when they produced their legends ;)
-
White sweatband for me, looks better although do take your point on sweat/dirt
-
Playing Devil's advocate here - what's the USP for these gloves? Why would I spend £55 on a set of Pittards that other brands may also be selling? I think you need to Ayrtek them in some way to make them stand out.
I'd go for dark palms as well, hides the sweat better.

Haha Might get a few pairs of them in as well in the Elite design to go with the gloves :D
ill put you down for a pair :-[

Fair point Nick, if you have ever tried on new gloves some often take a while to become "broken in" from the get go. The design of these makes them comfortable and flexible straight out of the bag, we could go down the route of using impact absorbing foams within them or other more unique method of protection but IMO this would drive the price up to £65+ which people are hesitant to pay for an item that may only last 1 season.
-
These are without doubt the best gloves I've ever used, but yes, the white wristband was a minor gripe.
-
I would go with white wristbands, maybe a black band through it if it costs the same.
Also I say ditch the badges, keep the top part flat and have your logos printed on, as this design makes the gloves look a bit dated to me. Probably be cheaper to make as well.

It worked pretty well with the helmets didn't it ;) . I tend not to pay more than £40 for Pittard gloves if I can help it, so possibly wouldn't buy these at that price point. However, if the gloves had some unique and class leading features at £65 then I would be tempted - ie. pay a bit more for the best.

Wristband price would be the same in either black or white, I presume you mean screen print the Ayrtek name and logo onto the top section rather than having them sewn in? Also achievable id think without too much hassle.
-
Black wristband (or black with white stripe) without a doubt IMO.....I have a pair of sausage-style from Vulcan that I bought last year and they have black wristbands; they don't show the grim / sweat anywhere near as much as white that I have has previously. Sadly, they have reverted to white wristbands this year so I'm seeking out mine for another season if I can damage it!
Nice looking softs you have there!

Unfortunate spelling error - sure it was that you meant :D
-
Not too fussed on wristband colour Tom, maybe I don't bat for long enough for mine to get dirty.
On a side note I know Nick suggested dark palms but my vote is for the light ones to remain as I like to use white grips

Yeah ive never had an issue with the palms but all depends on the quality and colour of grip you use I suppose.

Thanks Nick; duly amended :-[ ....sorry Dean if you're reading this, they are very good gloves indeed, I can assure you!
-
Any potential of doing a conventional sheep skin palm glove instead of Pittards? This would provide an alternative to those who don't like it (a la me :D) and maybe offer the glove at a lower price point?
-
@wayward_hayward potentially but then you end up needing to double up on stock levels which means needing to buy twice as many :D
The difference between having a Pittards palm and not would only equate to around a £5 saving off the overall RRP.

Wristband I meant either white with a black stripe or vice-versa. Yes screen print the logo on instead of having them sewn in, this would modernise the gloves imo.

I've got the Affinity version of these. As Tom says they are perfect out of the packet, excellent gloves. The black and white colour scheme is spot on, would prefer the black wrist bands.
Put me down for a pair
-
Look really smart!!! Would opt for the black wrist band also
-
I would like black wrist straps and think they look really nice
-
Please please please bring these gloves back in exactly the same design (Colours wise I'm not fussed)!
I cannot understate how much I love these gloves, by far and away the best pair I've ever used.
Mine are really getting tatty, so could totally do with a few new pairs......
-
I'd like to see a little "Ayrtek Green" on them to be honest?
-
I thought Affinity took over these designs, have they stopped selling gloves and pads?
-
Marcus has 2 new glove designs for this season I believe so they are still doing their own softs still
-
your tempting me now as I loved my ayrtek softs pads and gloves
-
I have a pair of Ayrtek gloves and prefer them over the GM OLE's I had recently.
-
Tom how about some of them pump version lovely glove
-
Tom how about some of them pump version lovely glove
Potential for it Dave but means expenditure of the air bladder side of it again which comes with an MOQ so not viable at this stage unless we shift a serious volume of them :D
-
talking about the whole glove being air filled or just the wrist?
-
When we did it last time the air bladder covered the entire rear of the hand to reduce the impact forces being transmitted to the fingers.

I imagine it was lighter as well?
-
It worked well when we tested it at SATRA against other market leading gloves at the time and absorbed 3x more impact , not sure about the weight as never really used that as a selling point for gloves.

That sounds like a USP to me ;)
-
It would be but if we were to do use the air bladder again it would make more commercial sense to licence out the IPR for it to a brand doing larger numbers of gloves 😃

if they are better, then maybe it'll turn you into a major brand :) why sell out to the big boys
-
As we've got several other projects on the go currently outside of cricket that are more lucrative 👍

Last time I was at satra, there was a bin full of Indian made helmets that were pretty mangled. And I'm sure that was testing them under the old standards.

Black wristband Thomas

MOD paying well for the helmets then

MOD have money to burn!! I remember being an expert reviewing all the ECM equipment when we first went into Iraq/Afghan.. my god they spend some money!! sadly (and this isn't aimed at you Tom, just generally) they waste a hell of a lot of it.

White or black and white wrist bands. Small mans option. Presently using SS gloves that cost £35, pittards, very comfortable and decent protection. Would love to try Ayrtek but not sure I could justify the extra cost.

Yeah we are prob more expensive than some options from the Indian specific brands as they are making is much larger volumes and have better control of their prices due to making them in their own factories. We strive to ensure the quality of product reflects the price we sell them for whilst making a margin to enable us to continue as a business.
Whilst bringing them into the UK and selling them at cost price would be great for the paying customer im not sure my bank manager would be so happy when it comes to month end and we have bills to pay and mouths to feed.
-
Didn't mean to cause offence. Opinion offered is all.
-
Not having ago at you personally merely pointing out that as forum sponsors/brands and businesses we have to make profit on goods being sold in general as that's the nature of running any business unless you operate as a non profit charity/organisation. :)
-
Right I've taken the plunge and ordered some of these again the men's RH and Yourh RH with the black colour scheme + white wristband.
