We've got ours next weekend (saturday and sunday). Hopefully the weather will be good in the saturday to encourage lots down to the ground.
I'm not sure how many people will want to venture out to labour on Easter sunday.

Little we to begin with but covers back on, nets sorted, fence painted and garden done plus the frames of the screens assembled. More down tomorrow and another weekend at it next week (problem of having 2 grounds).

Gone are the days when county players came to affiliated clubs to help for a few hours - we had Will Jefferson and a few others from Notts when it first started. It's a good idea but these days it's some weekends before the season starts to get ship shape.

I did the cricket force days in 2010/11/12 but since then haven't bothered. They seemed well supported the first two years but the last year I did it and then from what I've heard they aren't that well supported. Mainly just the usual suspects in a  t-shirt.

Good idea, but people are stingy with their time now.

We had 4 people turn up which out of a membership of around 40 was a bit poor. The weather wasn't great though. However, lots got done.
Those who did nothing have no right to complain.

ours was supposed to be tomorrow but I moved it to today due to the forecast. My Dad and i started work and then 2 hours later one other person turned up. Dad went home at 1 and one other member turned up at 2.

got the fence fixed and garage stained so was productive of the people that turned up just a shame more of them didnt

We had around 50 people turn up today, most popped along for a few hours. Last year, we had over 70!

What were you doing? Building a new pavilion? Fair play to your members. Good to see so many turn up, shows a good club spirit

70 we consider 7 a good turnout.

Nothing special to be honest. New patio needed finishing, fences needed painting and nets were put up. We have a lot of people that care for the club and want to keep it looking beautiful. Link below to our website, photos of the ground on there.

I played a civil service game at your place in 2012 wayward. out in the sticks from memory and a slight hill from one end (nearest the pavillion) down to the other 9I think it was a farm type place that we kept trying to hit the balls into).

decent ground, nice pavillion

It's a bit out of the way, surrounded by fields mostly. Slight slope from the pavilion going away towards the nets. Batsman love trying to hit 6's over the wall and into yard, it's a pretty big hit. The owners decided to add a massive greenhouse this winter, another target to aim for. In recent years the outfield has been lightning, difficult task being a bowler there.

if I remember right, if you are batting at the top of the hill end, there is a big tree on the boundary to the right?? I kept putting a bowler in there on the pull in the game I played.. he didn't learn the decks not really a 'bouncy' one very quickly :)

We have two trees in play. If you are right handed and batting from the pavilion end, we have the massive oak at square leg and a smaller on one between mid off and cover. Only a couple of batsmen have ever cleared the larger tree, it's huge.

As a club we are not organised enough for anything like that. Plenty of nets and indoor 6s up till the start. Weather has definitely been getting better into the later months recent season, it would be sods law no doubt if the season did end up stretching into late sept, sun splitting the trees Mon-Fri and WET Sat & Sun. Maybe thats just the pessimist in me.
