Title: SCAT update?
Post by: tauhid on March 29, 2015, 04:39:53 PM
Hello everyone,
just wondering after the kickstarter campaign failed is Julian Millichamp back in pod shaving?  Is there any way to obtain a new Scat at this moment?

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions?
Thanks,
Tauhid

I heard a rumour at some point that he spent some time teaching an Indian firm about pressing.

If true (and I have no idea of the validity of the rumour, it wasn't heard from an Irishman in Thailand though!) knowing who that was would be information worth knowing...

Julian made me 5 or 6 bats over the period of a year or so: absolute top bloke and an incredibly charming fellow! He would knock one up in around 2 hours fully finished. He explained to me on a couple of occasions that he bought his clefts from J&S Wrights and had them shipped to India where he had set up the old Stuart Surridge press's and trained the locals how to press and handle the clefts to his standards. they would then be shipped to him in Brisbane to his workshop. Some of the best bats I have ever used were made by him!

Presumably these guys are now pressing for someone else?
