Title: Batting Hand Bruise
Post by: arsenal123 on March 30, 2015, 11:47:49 AM
I seem to have a bit of a problem.

The area of soft tissue between my thumb and index finger on my bottom hand seems to bruise up badly when I bat for any period of time (any scores of 50+).  This area last season went black and blue at times.  The shot that seems to cause most pain is defending on the back foot with a dead bat.

Even with all of the winter rest and it is still hurting at nets at times.  Any suggestions?

Padded inners maybe?

A doctor or a physio?

God knows why I haven't thought of wearing batting inners.  Will give them a go!

Doctor and physio were considered but I'm a stubborn so and so with my 'ah, ill be alright' sort of attitude!

how tightly are you gripping with your bottom hand?  I used to also get a sore bit on my hand where you describe but I found that loosening my bottom hand grip a bit allowed me to bat longer.

I don't really grip on the bottom hand at all when defending on the back foot.  I almost keep my hand completely open faced upwards which doesn't seem to help.

Edit: OOOO, 500 posts  :-[

Sounds like the simple answer is stop scoring 50+ scores mate  ;)
