Title: ICC president quits
Post by: golden duck on April 01, 2015, 12:18:51 PM
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/apr/01/icc-president-mustafa-kamal-ugly-people (http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/apr/01/icc-president-mustafa-kamal-ugly-people)

So, a guy no one has heard of (I hadn't at least) quits because he didn't get to hand over the trophy?  or is there more to it as he implies?

I don't know the politics of who should or shouldn't hand over trophies but it sounds like the straw that broke the kamal's back (ba dum tish - sorry I couldn't resist!)

Will be interesting if anything comes out, or if this is all bluster.  Whats the betting he recieves a nice payoff to keep quiet.

If you read the story and the back story he is talking about corruption in the ICC etc

he is the same guy that complained about umpiring standards when a couple decisions went against bangladesh. I haven't seen them so dont know if he had a case.

there is talk of corruption - but surely he would be better placed to deal with it as President?
This is an odd one - but surely if you are in a position of power like this you seek to expose the corruption around you and if the corrupt ones make you quite, then you can walk away with your head held high.

this way he has lost all credibility and looks as if he is having a strop and is then making up a reason for quitting.

The worst think about this, however, is that is clears the way for Giles Clarke to get the role, which would be a disaster...
