This year we are playing in coloured kit in all short format cricket (sixes tournaments, and T20 cups/leagues) - mainly because we run/sponsor most of them and have introduced the pink ball which means it is ok to wear either coloured kit or whites, and you don't have to worry about changing the sight-screens to black, but a pink ball is still way more visible in the evenings than a red one.
Our kit will be blue, with some pink liony details as you can see, awaiting blue trousers and sweaters still but they won't be long.

I've got some nice blue pads lined up from B&S, some of the boys are using CLADS, others will spray paint some old pads....
Myself and Robin also decided to go flashy with our footwear, i would never wear something like this in proper cricket at the weekend, but for bunting around at a fairly average standard, why not have a bit of fun? Robin has gone for those Puma shoes in pink that many people have posted pictures of, i took a different route....

Blue and Pink Tennis shoes sprigged up.
Very happy.

Those shirts look a bit too fitted to be comfortable! :-[
-
Love it!!
-
Jake, what made you go for a court shoe over a running shoe?

As a wk, would ey not offer more lateral support?
-
Can you share pics of blue pads from b&s and are they available for regular sale.

They are blue and pink, in terms of shoe quality they could have been pound shop flip flops for all i cared.

I don't have them yet, but yes Gary has a few pairs for sale.

I agree - cries of SHAME! from us senior members. ;)

Thats a specific 'Robin fit' one, aka very tight!
@Boondougal has been coming to our nets where i have worn my one that is a normal fit, hopefully he will confirm i didn't look too much like a bunch of sausages :)
-
Looks awesome I might have to move to Peterborough.
I do prefer Robin's choice of footwear but not by much
-
Loving the shoe and kit combo Jake, i'm sure you will look the part.

I can confirm that their was absolutely no sausage on show. There was a resemblance to 5kg bag of potatoes but luckily @Vitas Cricket could pull it off.
I personally think that if it can be done economically and with the right spirit then the kit like the Vitas Boys have got going helps to liven up the game and brings a different dimension. In some strange way i have to also say it sums up the club sprit as well. I had a great time at nets and was made to feel very welcome by everyone both during the nets and during the post net rehydration.
Still crossing my fingers for a mid week game call up but there is no doubt that the club kit does shape the selection criteria some what... A call up for me might need a crash diet, 6 months notice and a jumper.

Pleased to hear you had a good time with us mate.
@Boondougal If you are still working in the area when the midweek T20 stuff starts (late May) then i'm sure we'll find some room in the team (and the shirts) for you mate!

@Vitas Cricket.... Contracted till October, might as well give me a squad number! :D :D :D :D
Worst case at least i know where to come and watch a decent game.
-
@Boondougal Absolutely come along and watch mate, a few nice bars at the grounds we'll be playing at too.
I'll dig a shirt out, keep those tweakers ticking over, i'm sure we'll need you at some point!
-
Yes Jake, love em! Don't know why every evening game UK wide isn't pink ball mandatory...
-
I agree on the pink ball for mid week games but my goodness they are bat breakers >:(
-
our club uses a pink ball for a lot of midweek games. only play in whites still unless its the LMS, do agree they are rock hard
-
cheap pink balls are hard i agree, just like cheap red ones are.
Of course the majority of leagues/clubs have put price aead of quality when it comes to balls. The tiflex magna in pink is a ball we regularly recommend but gets turned down in favour of terrible balls for a saving that equates to about 40p per player per game based on a ball for each innings.
-
Not all pink balls are born equal.
-
has any one every used orange or yellow balls? just wondered what they were marketed as?

Orange does a similar thing to pink, i think pink does it better though.
Never used a yellow ball outside.
-
Love the shirt. They cancelled the mid week league here

From the boundary you can hardly the difference between the Orange and the Pink balls, but the pink seemed to retain its colour better.
-
We used hunts' orange balls a couple of year back. We actually seemed to struggle a bit with it in the field, as in picking up the movement/bounce etc and seemed to react differently in the field. Oh, and it also pinged like a $%£&^$£"£"^&^& off the bat and scuffed up quick enough in a T20 innings.

In the Kent league on a Sunday they used to use Orange balls as a trial. This is going back about 12-13 years though. @SOULMAN1012 might have been a part of this too? It was designed as an U21 competition and the Orange balls hooped everywhere!

Even until last season we used the orange balls in the aero development league, its stupid at the start of the innings the ball swings so much can't nick off if you tried, even after 20 overs still swings round corners, Also hard as nails these balls

Fair play. I have been out of the county for about 10 or so years but glad to see sunday league is still running even though the orange ball is crazy at the start. Does it still have the youth focus with 'x' amount of players having to be under a certain age?

Yea still does mate has to be 6 I believe under 21 and 2 of those under 18 but don't quote me on that.
I'm also no longer in Kent and now live in Suffolk so will be playing my cricket in the East Anglia league I believe

Thought I would post these in here rather than Starting a new topic.
Lurking in the background is my own rawtek blue tint with new club logo and pinstripes applied, and in the foreground is Robins brand new Adizero custom with blue paint job, pink pinstripes and club logo.
Many thanks to @Ayrtek for all the help

Pink pinstripes on the blue shell, they're tasty!

Awesome shirts mate and awesome job with the shoes/helmet etc.
Having played with a pink balls for a few seasons now, one concern though: the ball will for sure get lost in those jerseys and the opposition will complain. Is that something you guys considered ?
-
Have you guys got an Aussie player from Eastern Suburbs with you this year?
-
I thought the colour combo,s etc made you look like a bunch er girls, but the missus loves it?
Now she's asking why we have to play in white, and I suppose she's right.
I'm not a fan of white kit, all logoed up with sponsor names, ,but the coloured stuff looks good.
I suppose it sums up cricket in the UK,at the mo,,too many died in the wool boring old farts

5 games for him so far, three hundreds and a 50, all of them not out.
-
Ah, missed that thread. Not a bad start to the season.

Make that 6 games, 3 hundreds, 2 fifties, and a solitary failure on 8. He's only been dismissed twice. Blader!

Another little addition.

Don't really get the point in playing if one player is that much better than everyone.

We are newly promoted into both leagues. He's a good bat definitely, but is he Tendulkar compared to the rest of us looking like armless idiots? No.
With respect to the oppo so far, we have played possibly 6 of our easiest games this season. We've played the same team 3 times already and they do appear destined for the drop.
-
Love those Blue B&S pads Jake, not playing T20 cricket this season, new club doesn't play any which is a little strange but Haho. Shame as I would have loved a set of those.
-

As a newly promoted club I imagine mportant to make sure that they had a quality overseas. To bridge any gap in quality there may have been. Also nowadays very rarely do you get the same pro in consecutive years. so it will help the batters batting with him to adjust and also give the bowlers a bit mire room for error.
-
SLC will perhaps be pleased to see that Ben (along with the rest of us) has fared somewhat poorly with the bat recently. ;)
First dip into T20 tomorrow, which means a first outing for the new coloured kit. I'll try and grab some photos :)

Here are a few photos including some of my own 'action shots'
