Title: What to do with the best bat you've ever had after it dies
Post by: fromthehip on April 03, 2015, 02:04:26 PM
After not playing cricket for 17 years I started up again and brought a ss le that served me up over 3000 runs but has come to the end of its life......question is what should I do with it
Hunts will put a clock insert in it and I could hang it on my office wall but was wondering what else I could do with it.....

Could you have it as a shelf, or do you want to see the face? No clock pun intended

What do you mean 'come to the end of its life'. I know of 2 people who use 25 yr old bats, they are both guns.

Cracked toe and edge don't want it to disintegrate to be a worthless lump of wood

Either reglue the toe tape it up and keep using it or you could make a display cabinet and put it on the wall, the success of this idea will depend upon your marital status.
If you don't use it it will just be a piece of willow hanging around the bottom of your spare bag.

I have one of my favourite bats ever on my wall, I use it to write on each time I score a Ton, hope to fill it up by the time I can no longer play. I had it cleaned up then added a clear scuff and use a Sharpie to update each time I score I TON with date, score and team scored against.

That's a great idea, I might do that but think I'd have to make do with fifties.

I could have use a miniature bat last season though......

Haha iv been tempted to add 50's as playing less games each season as I get older and with other commitments but managed at least 2 tons a season over the last 5 years and most have been league hundreds so I can live with that

I'd just do double figures on last years form!  :-[

In the early 2000s I had a lovely M&H Original that i was using on tour to Salisbury. It broke whilst scoring a club record fastest 50.... (On of those Vs from the splice downwards) I sailed it down a stream next to the ground. Sadly couldn't set fire to it go full Viking.

Drink may have been taken...
